Direct Admission at BHU: Banaras Hindu University does not offer a management quota. All UG, medical, MBA, and PG seats are filled through merit and centralised processes.

BHU UG Admission 2026

BHU UG admission 2026 covers approximately 3,867 seats across five faculty streams: Arts (1,841), Science (1,152), Commerce (609), Agriculture (205), and Veterinary (60). All seats are allocated through CUET UG 2026 scores via the BHU Central Admission Portal. Class 12 marks are used only for tie-breaking.

As per Collegedunia Reviews, students recommend registering on the BHU CAP-UG portal immediately after CUET results. The portal window is short and missing the deadline means losing access to all UG programmes that year.

B.Sc (Agriculture) Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Agriculture CUET UG score

BHU UG Selection Criteria

  • Candidates must attempt CUET UG in domain subjects relevant to their chosen BHU programme.
  • Commitment fee on accepting allotment: INR 2,500 (General, OBC, EWS) and INR 500 (SC, ST, PwD).
  • BHU BALLB Hons is included in the CUET UG process. It does not use CLAT.

Key Insight: BHU runs BALLB Hons through CUET UG, not CLAT. Aspirants planning a law career at BHU must appear in the CUET UG language and domain papers, not CLAT. Applying through the BHU CAP-UG portal is mandatory even if CLAT was attempted.

How to Apply for UG at BHU?

  1. Register for CUET UG 2026 at exams.nta.ac.in and appear for the relevant domain papers.
  2. After CUET results, register on the BHU CAP-UG portal at bhucuet.samarth.edu.in.

Category Class 12 Minimum Selection Basis
General and EWS 50% in PCB aggregate NEET UG 2026 score via MCC counselling
SC, ST, and OBC-NCL 40% in PCB aggregate NEET UG 2026 score via MCC counselling

BHU MBBS and BDS Selection Criteria

Seat allotment is entirely through MCC counselling based on NEET UG rank and choice filling. BHU IMS does not conduct any separate test or interview.

AI-Generated Summary based on 240 Reviews

Admission to the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) {Hons.} program at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is predominantly based on the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Applicants must prepare for and take exams in specific subjects: Accountancy, Business Studies, and a General Test. For General category students, the cut-off generally starts from around 480/650, varying by year and difficulty. For category-wise cut-offs, it ranges widely - SCs and STs benefit significantly from reservation policies.

Completing the CUET is followed by a multi-step admission process, including document verification and fee payment. BHU doesn't offer a direct or management quota for admissions, emphasizing merit and CUET scores. The university, known for its low tuition fees, enjoys a high reputation and is ranked among the top institutions nationwide. Students typically choose BHU over institutions like Delhi University due to its affordability, brand prestige, and comprehensive support infrastructure.

The requirement for admission is a 10+2 qualification with at least 60% from a recognized board. The campus, located in Varanasi, offers a culturally rich and peaceful environment favorable for academic pursuits. Despite minor administrative delays, BHU is highly rated for its educational offerings, diverse student body, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Does BHU offer admission only to Hindus?

Pranjal Sapra

For years, there's been a doubt lingering among Indian students. Is BHU for Hindus and AMU for Muslims? Though both universities might include Hindu and Muslim in their names, they welcome students from all walks of life. Candidates belonging to any caste and religion can pursue higher education in BHU.

The university was solely established to promote learning and research generally in Arts and Sciences in all branches and to advance and diffuse such scientific, technical, and professional knowledge, combined with the necessary practical training to promote indigenous industries and to develop the material resources of the country. Moreover, the university also reserves seats for certain minority-category students.
