GUJCET 2027 is conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB). The Admission Committee for Professional Degree Courses (ACPDC) uses the GUJCET score to fill seats in engineering and pharmacy colleges across Gujarat. Before you fill the application form, you must check whether you meet the eligibility conditions set by GSEB. This article explains the age limit, Class 12 qualification, subject requirements, minimum marks for each category, domicile conditions, and the number of times you can appear for the exam.

Nationality and Domicile Requirements

You must be an Indian national to apply for GUJCET 2027. For Gujarat state quota seats, you must meet at least one of the following domicile conditions set by ACPDC.

  • You hold a Gujarat domicile certificate.
  • You studied Class 11 and Class 12 from a school located in Gujarat.
  • One of your parents is a government employee currently posted in Gujarat.

If you do not meet any of these conditions, you can still apply for All India quota seats available in participating colleges. NRI candidates can apply under the NRI quota as per ACPDC guidelines. You must carry the relevant domicile or posting certificate at the time of document verification.

GUJCET 2027 Age Limit

You must be at least 17 years old as on 31 December 2027. GSEB does not set an upper age limit for GUJCET 2027. This means students of any age can appear for the exam, provided they meet the other eligibility conditions.

CategoryMinimum AgeUpper Age Limit
General / EWS17 years as on 31 Dec 2027No upper age limit
SC / ST / SEBC / OBC17 years as on 31 Dec 2027No upper age limit
PwD17 years as on 31 Dec 2027As per state government norms

Educational Qualification

You must have passed Class 12 or be appearing in Class 12 in 2027 from a recognised board. Students who passed Class 12 in any previous year are also eligible. The following boards are accepted.

  • Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB)
  • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (ICSE/ISC)
  • Any other board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
  • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), subject to ACPDC confirmation

If you are appearing in Class 12 in 2027, you get provisional eligibility. Your admission will be confirmed only after you submit your Class 12 marksheet with the required minimum marks.

GUJCET 2027 Subject Requirements

The subjects you studied in Class 12 determine which courses you can apply for. GSEB conducts separate GUJCET papers for engineering and pharmacy. You must have studied the required subjects as regular subjects, not as additional or optional subjects.

Engineering (BE / BTech)

To apply for engineering courses, you must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Class 12. All three subjects are mandatory. Biology alone without Mathematics does not qualify you for engineering.

Pharmacy (BPharm / PharmD)

For pharmacy courses, you must have studied Physics and Chemistry in Class 12. As your third subject, you can have either Biology or Mathematics. Both combinations are accepted for pharmacy.

CourseMandatory Subjects in Class 12
BE / BTech (Engineering)Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics
BPharm / PharmD (Pharmacy)Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Mathematics

GUJCET 2027 Minimum Marks in Class 12

You must score the minimum required aggregate marks in your relevant Class 12 subjects. The percentage is calculated only on the subjects that count for your course (PCM for engineering, PCM or PCB for pharmacy). The minimum marks differ by category.

CategoryMinimum Marks RequiredSubjects Counted
General / EWS45% aggregatePCM (engineering) or PCM / PCB (pharmacy)
SC / ST / SEBC / OBC40% aggregatePCM (engineering) or PCM / PCB (pharmacy)
PwDAs per state government normsPCM (engineering) or PCM / PCB (pharmacy)

If you are appearing in Class 12, you must score at least these marks in your final result. Candidates who score below the minimum marks will not be eligible for admission even if they qualify GUJCET.

Number of Attempts

GSEB does not restrict the number of times you can appear for GUJCET. There is no annual cap and no lifetime limit on attempts. You can appear every year as long as you meet the other eligibility conditions. Students who appeared for GUJCET in previous years and want to improve their score can apply again without any penalty or restriction.

Eligibility for Repeaters and Pass-out Students

Students who passed Class 12 in 2026, 2025, or any earlier year are fully eligible to apply for GUJCET 2027. Being a repeater does not reduce your chances or restrict your seat options. Your eligibility is based on your Class 12 marks and your GUJCET 2027 score, not on the year you passed Class 12. If you appeared for GUJCET in a previous year, your old score is not carried forward. You must appear again and use your 2027 score for the 2027 admissions.

Important Notes

  • Your GUJCET 2027 score is valid only for the 2027 admission cycle. You cannot use a score from a previous year.
  • If you belong to SC, ST, SEBC, EWS, or PwD category, carry your valid category certificate at the time of document verification. An invalid or expired certificate will make you ineligible for the reserved category benefit.
  • If you are appearing in Class 12 in 2027, your admission is provisional until you submit your final marksheet. If you do not score the minimum required marks, ACPDC will cancel your admission.
  • Diploma holders seeking lateral entry to the second year of engineering do not apply through GUJCET. That process is handled separately by ACPDC under a different scheme.
  • A student who has studied from a board outside Gujarat must ensure their board is recognised by AIU. Certificates from unrecognised boards will not be accepted.
  • Meeting the GUJCET eligibility conditions does not guarantee admission. Final allotment depends on your GUJCET rank, the merit list prepared by ACPDC, and seat availability.

How many times can I appear for GUJCET?

There is no limit on the number of times you can appear for GUJCET. GSEB does not set any annual or lifetime cap on attempts. You can appear every year as long as you are otherwise eligible. Each time you appear, only your current year score will be used for that year’s admissions.

Can a student with Biology but no Mathematics apply for engineering through GUJCET?

No. To apply for engineering (BE or BTech) through GUJCET, you must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Class 12. Biology alone as the third subject does not qualify you for engineering. However, if you have Physics and Chemistry along with Biology, you can apply for pharmacy courses such as BPharm or PharmD.

Is a GUJCET score valid for more than one year?

No. Your GUJCET score is valid only for the year in which you appear. If you scored in GUJCET 2026 but did not get admission, you cannot use that score in 2027. You must appear for GUJCET 2027 and use your new score for the 2027 admission cycle.
