To be eligible for VITEEE 2027, you must have been born on or after July 1, 2005, secured at least 60% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology in 10+2, and VIT University does not impose a fixed upper limit on the number of attempts.

VITEEE 2027 is the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination conducted by VIT University for B.Tech admissions at its campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amaravati. You must meet all eligibility conditions — age, academic qualification, and subject combination — before filling the application form. SC/ST and differently-abled students receive a relaxed marks threshold of 50% aggregate.

  • Age Limit: Born on or after July 1, 2005.
  • Qualifying Exam: Passed or appearing in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology.
  • Minimum Marks (General/OBC/EWS): 60% aggregate in PCM or PCB.
  • Minimum Marks (SC/ST/PwD): 50% aggregate in PCM or PCB.
  • Compulsory Subject: English in Class 12.
  • Attempts: No fixed cap — the age cutoff is the only binding constraint.

Age Limit for VITEEE 2027

You must have been born on or after July 1, 2005 to apply for VITEEE 2027. VIT University sets this lower age bound to ensure students are at least 17 years old at the time of admission. There is no upper age cap in the official eligibility notification, but the lower cutoff is strictly enforced during document verification at counselling.

Students born before July 1, 2005 — even if they are otherwise academically eligible — will not be permitted to appear in VITEEE 2027. Always verify your date of birth against this cutoff before paying the application fee to avoid rejection at a later stage.

VITEEE 2027 Academic Qualification

You must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent qualifying examination, or be appearing in it in 2027, to be eligible for VITEEE 2027.

The aggregate percentage is calculated only on marks scored in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology — not across all five subjects in Class 12. The category-wise minimum marks requirement is as follows.

Category Minimum Aggregate in PCM or PCB
General 60%
OBC / EWS 60%
SC / ST 50%
Differently-Abled (PwD) 50%

Students currently in Class 12 during the 2026–27 session can apply provisionally for VITEEE 2027. Admission is confirmed only after you submit original mark sheets showing the required percentage at the time of counselling. Students who passed 10+2 in 2025 or 2026 are directly eligible to apply without any provisional status.

VITEEE 2027 Subject Requirements

Your Class 12 subject combination must include Physics, Chemistry, at least one of Mathematics or Biology, and English as a compulsory language subject.

The subjects you studied in Class 12 also determine which B.Tech programmes you can be considered for at VIT University. The table below shows the programme eligibility by subject combination.

Class 12 Subject Combination Eligible B.Tech Programmes
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) CSE, ECE, EEE, Mechanical, Civil, and all core engineering streams
Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and related life-science programmes
Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology (PCMB) All B.Tech programmes — widest choice across streams

Students who have Computer Science in place of Mathematics should confirm their subject eligibility directly with VIT University admissions before submitting the application form, as programme-specific conditions may apply.

Number of Attempts in VITEEE 2027

VIT University does not impose a fixed upper limit on the number of times you can appear for VITEEE. Unlike some national entrance exams that cap attempts at two or three consecutive years, VITEEE has no such restriction published in the official information brochure.

The age cutoff — born on or after July 1, 2005 — is the practical constraint that determines how many times a student can realistically attempt the exam. Since most students complete Class 12 at age 17 or 18, they have a window of several years to attempt VITEEE while remaining within the age limit. Here is what drop-year and repeating students should note:

  • A student who passed Class 12 in 2025 or 2026 and is attempting VITEEE for the second or third time in 2027 is fully eligible, provided the age criterion is met.
  • There is no gap-year restriction — VIT University does not penalise you for taking a year off after Class 12.
  • You must satisfy all academic eligibility conditions — marks, subject combination — each time you apply, regardless of previous attempts.

VITEEE 2027 Eligibility for NRI/OCI/PIO Students

NRI, OCI (Overseas Citizen of India), and PIO (Person of Indian Origin) students are eligible for VITEEE 2027 under a separate NRI/Management quota. The academic eligibility requirements — subject combination and minimum percentage in PCM or PCB — remain the same as for Indian students applying under the general category.

NRI quota students may be admitted based on their qualifying exam scores without sitting for the VITEEE computer-based test in certain cases, subject to VIT University’s NRI admission policy for 2027. Foreign nationals who have completed Class 12 or an equivalent programme with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology can apply through VIT’s international admissions channel.
