Mapping the future of a lot of aspiring students, the Seneca College offers more than 146 full-time programs and 135 part-time programs, including Certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Graduate Certificates, and Bachelor’s Degrees.

Seneca College Eligibility for International Students

There are various requirements set by the College to meet their eligibility criteria for admission into various courses

General Language Proficiency for international students

All applicants to Seneca will be studying in English. So, if a candidate comes from a country where English is not the primary language, then he/she must show one of the following:

  • Completing at least 2 years of full-time study in a school and country with English being the primary language
  • Test score (recognised) such as IELTS Academic, TOEFL or PTE Academic
  • Successful completion of an English preparatory program offered at Seneca
  1. Admission to Diploma or Advanced Diploma
  • High School graduation transcripts (grades) for Grade 10, 11 and 12 showing all program-required subjects
  • International English Test Scores:
    1. At least 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based with no test below 20) - TOEFL code 9212 TOEFL score, OR
    2. IELTS Academic with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single test score below 5.5), OR
    3. PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) score 58
  1. Admission to a degree (4 years program)
  • High School graduation transcripts (grades) for Grade 10, 11 & 12 with  transcripts for any post-secondary College/University courses or programs completed (if applicable)
  • International English Test Scores:
    1. At least 570 (paper based) or 84 (internet based with no test below 21) TOEFL score, OR
    2. IELTS Academic with an overall minimum score of 6.5 (with no single test score below 6.0), OR
    3. PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) score 60
  1. Admission to a Certificate (1 yr) program
  • High School graduation transcripts (grades) for Grade 10, 11 & 12 showing all program-required subjects
  • International English Test Scores:
  1. A minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper based) or 80 (internet based with no test below 20) - TOEFL code 9212, OR
  2. IELTS Academic with an overall minimum score of 6.0 (with no single test score below 5.5), OR
  3. PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) score 58.
  1. Admission to post graduate (1-year program)
  • University degree transcripts of every year
  • International English Test Scores:
    1. Minimum TOEFL score of 580 (paper based) or 88 (internet based with no test below 22), OR
    2. IELTS Academic with an overall minimum score of 6.5 (no single test score below 6.0), OR
    3. PTE Academic (Pearson Test of English) score 60

Seneca College Admission Process

International students will require a permit to study in Canada in case their course of study is longer than six months.

Students can apply for study permit online or on paper. For online, they need to create an account if they don’t have any. They can ask for help on their nearest Visa Application Center in case they wish to apply it on paper.

Steps to apply:

  • Click “Apply Now!” followed by “New Application”.
  • Fill out the required fields (marked with ‘*’).
  • Save your application by creating a password and an account.
  • Write down your application confirmation number for future reference and click “Continue”.
  • Fill the English proficiency section and Academic Record sections.
  • Choose your Program and click “Submit Program Selection”.
  • Upload all required documents and click “Upload Documents”.
  • Click “Continue”.
  • Choose your method of payment.
  • Click ‘Submit’ after completing the form. 
    You will receive a message saying, “Thank you for applying to Seneca College”.
  • Click “Close”.

An e-mail with your login details and application confirmation number will be sent to the email address you provided during the application process. It will take 4-6 weeks for processing.

Sending Applications to Seneca College

Only the applications which are fully completed and have all admission requirements including the application fee included, will be processed.

You may send your required documents by one of the following means (use only one method):

Documents and other requirements during application process

The candidates must have the following documents ready before they start applying:

  • Academic record in the native language and official/certified English translation scanned in PDF format.
  • For High School Graduates:  Complete High School/ Secondary School Transcript (all years of secondary school) and your High School/Secondary School Diploma (Certificate of Completion) scanned in PDF format.
  • For University/College graduates: Complete University/College transcripts and a copy of diploma/degree scanned in PDF format.
  • Proof of ESL: IELTS Academic / TOEFL / PTE Academic (if required) scanned in PDF format.
  • Photo and signature pages of passport scanned in PDF format.
  • $65 CAD non?refundable application fee (credit card, international money order).
  • Signed Student Information Release Form (if using a third party) scanned in PDF format.
  • International Student Application Cancellation Form (if changing agents).

105F International Application for International Applicants

International Students aspiring for admission to Seneca College needs to fill OUAC 105 International Application form.

Fill in OUAC 105 application if the following points apply to you:

  • You are not a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, and/or
  • You currently reside outside Canada
  • You are not currently attending Ontario High School day program (either in Ontario or Abroad)

NOTE: If both the applications are submitted, U of T International Application will be cancelled with no refund of fee.

How an Application is Considered at Seneca College?

  • First step is to verify that whether students meet general admission requirements of the college.
  • Subsequent to this, secondly authority verify that the students meet program-specific requirements
  • The third assessment is based on academic records of the students.
  • Admission authority might also consider various factors for admission like: consistency; where and when courses were completed – regular day school, night school, summer school; and the number of times any courses have been attempted.
  • College then considers the score of test required for admission (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.)
