What is Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027?

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 is the centralised online admission process for 85% state quota MBBS and BDS seats in Rajasthan. The process is managed by the Office of the Chairman, NEET UG Medical & Dental Admission/Counselling Board, Rajasthan, which functions under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Jaipur. The Principal & Controller of SMS Medical College, Jaipur acts as the convener.

The counselling is based entirely on NEET UG 2027 scores — there is no separate Rajasthan state entrance test. Candidates who qualify NEET UG and hold a valid Rajasthan domicile or bonafide residency certificate can register for state quota seats.

The remaining 15% of government college seats are filled through the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), New Delhi, which is open to candidates from all states. Rajasthan is a closed state — non-Rajasthan domicile candidates are not eligible for the 85% state quota seats.

Eligibility Criteria for Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027

You must satisfy both the NEET UG qualification criteria and the Rajasthan domicile requirements to register for Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027. Missing any one condition makes you ineligible for the state quota seats.

Age Requirement

  • You must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2027.
  • There is no upper age limit for NEET UG admissions as per the current Supreme Court ruling and NMC guidelines.

Academic Qualification

  • You must have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as subjects.
  • Minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for General and EWS category candidates.
  • Minimum 45% for General-PwD and 40% for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates.
  • Class 12 must be from a board recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

NEET UG 2027 Qualifying Percentile

Category Minimum Qualifying Percentile
General (UR) 50th Percentile
General-PwD 45th Percentile
SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / MBC / SBC 40th Percentile
SC / ST / OBC-PwD 40th Percentile

Qualifying these percentiles makes you eligible to register — your actual chances of getting a government college seat depend on your NEET rank relative to other Rajasthan-domicile candidates and available seats.

Rajasthan Domicile / Bonafide Residency

To claim the 85% state-quota seats, you must fall into any one of these categories:

  • You are a bonafide resident of Rajasthan with a valid domicile certificate issued by the Tehsildar, SDM, or any competent authority of Rajasthan.
  • You have passed Class 10 and Class 12 from a school located in Rajasthan, recognised by RBSE, CBSE, or any recognised board.
  • Your parent has continuously served the Government of Rajasthan, autonomous bodies, or recognised institutions in Rajasthan for at least 10 years.
  • You are a ward of defence personnel, ex-servicemen, or paramilitary forces posted in Rajasthan as per state rules.

Candidates who are not Rajasthan domicile holders can apply for private medical college seats (non-state-quota) and management or NRI quota seats, but cannot claim the 85% state government quota.

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027: Registration Process

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 registration will be completed entirely online on the official DME portal. You need to register separately for each round — Round 1 registration does not carry forward to Round 2 or the Mop-Up Round. Keep all your scanned documents ready before starting the process.

  • Step 1 — Visit the Official Portal: Go to medicaleducation.rajasthan.gov.in and click on the Rajasthan NEET UG 2027 Counselling link once it is active.
  • Step 2 — New Registration: Click "New Registration" and enter your NEET UG 2027 Roll Number, Application Number, and Date of Birth. Basic personal details will be auto-fetched from NTA records.
  • Step 3 — Fill Personal Details: Complete your contact details, parental information, address, and educational qualifications in the registration form.
  • Step 4 — Select Category and Upload Domicile: Select your category (General / OBC / SC / ST / EWS / MBC / SBC) and upload your Rajasthan domicile or bonafide certificate. OBC-NCL candidates must upload a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate from Rajasthan.
  • Step 5 — Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of all required documents in the file sizes and formats specified in the 2027 information booklet.
  • Step 6 — Pay Registration Fee and Security Deposit: Pay online via net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI. The registration fee is non-refundable. The security deposit is refundable under conditions specified by DME.
  • Step 7 — Submit and Take Printout: Review all details carefully before submitting. Download the application confirmation and keep it for future reference.

The registration fee is non-refundable even if you do not participate in choice filling or do not receive an allotment. Register only after confirming your eligibility and domicile documentation.

You should not wait until the last day to register. The portal often experiences high traffic near the closing deadline, and technical issues near the deadline do not count as valid reasons for late registration.

Fees and Security Deposit for Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027

The Rajasthan NEET Counselling fee has two parts — a non-refundable registration fee and a refundable security deposit. You pay both at the time of registration for each round. The security deposit is forfeited if you do not report to the allotted college without officially withdrawing.

Note: The above fees are from the 2025 counselling booklet. The 2027 fee structure will be officially published in the Rajasthan NEET UG 2027 Information Booklet released by DME before counselling begins.

Security Deposit Refund Rules

  • The deposit is fully refunded if you do not receive a seat in the counselling round you registered for.
  • If you are allotted a seat and join the college, the deposit is adjusted against your first-year college fees.
  • If you withdraw within the officially allowed window, a partial refund may apply after deducting processing charges as per DME’s stated policy for 2027.
  • If you do not report by the deadline without officially withdrawing, the security deposit is forfeited.
  • Refunds are processed to the same bank account used during payment.

Documents Required for Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027

You must prepare originals and self-attested photocopies of all required documents before registering. Document verification happens twice — during online upload at registration and again physically at the allotted college. Missing documents can delay or cancel your admission.

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027: Reservation Policy

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 follows both vertical and horizontal reservation as per the Government of Rajasthan’s policy. Vertical reservation is category-based. Horizontal reservation applies across all categories for specific groups like women, persons with disability, and defence wards.

Vertical Reservation (Category-Based)

Category Reservation Percentage
Scheduled Castes (SC) 16%
Scheduled Tribes (ST) 12%
Other Backward Classes — Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) 21%
Most Backward Classes (MBC) 5%
Special Backward Classes (SBC) 5%
Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) 10%

Horizontal Reservation

  • Women: 25% horizontal reservation across all categories.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 5% horizontal reservation across all categories.
  • Defence / Ex-Servicemen Wards: 1% horizontal reservation as per Rajasthan state rules.
  • NRI Quota: Institution-specific in private medical colleges — not part of state quota reservation.

Candidates from reserved categories can also compete for General category seats if their NEET rank is high enough. If reserved seats remain unfilled after any round, those seats may be released to the General category in subsequent rounds as per DME policy.

You can claim reservation only with valid certificates issued by the competent Rajasthan authority in the prescribed state format. OBC-NCL candidates must verify that their certificate clearly states "Non-Creamy Layer."

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027: Seat Matrix

The official Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 seat matrix will be published with the counselling notification by DME, Jaipur. Based on the 2026 data, Rajasthan has over 8,000 total MBBS seats across 51 medical colleges. The state has added significantly more seats over the last five years as new district-level government medical colleges became operational.

Course Total Seats (2026 Reference) State Quota (85%) AIQ (15%) Government Colleges Private Colleges
MBBS 8,080+ ~6,868+ ~1,212+ 33 18
BDS 1,343+ ~1,141+ ~202+ 1 15+

Source: DME Rajasthan Seat Matrix Reference Data 2026

The top government medical colleges — SMS Medical College Jaipur, Dr SN Medical College Jodhpur, Sardar Patel Medical College Bikaner, RNT Medical College Udaipur, and JLN Medical College Ajmer — each offer around 250 MBBS seats. Newer government colleges in Sirohi, Dausa, Hanumangarh, Karauli, Barmer, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Sri Ganganagar, and Banswara have collectively added more than 1,000 MBBS seats over the last five years, improving seat access for candidates from smaller districts.

What About AIIMS Jodhpur?

AIIMS Jodhpur is a central government institution. Its seats are not part of Rajasthan NEET Counselling. AIIMS Jodhpur admissions happen through a separate AIIMS MBBS counselling conducted by AACCC, open to all India candidates regardless of state domicile.

Choice Filling and Locking for Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027

Choice filling is the most important step in Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027. Your final seat allotment is determined by your merit rank, your category, and the order of college preferences you submit. A poorly filled choice list often means missing out on a better seat even when your rank would have allowed it.

  • Choice filling opens after you complete registration and pay the security deposit.
  • You can fill choices for MBBS and BDS courses across all eligible government and private colleges.
  • Rank your preferences in descending order of priority — most preferred college at the top.
  • You can add, remove, and rearrange choices any number of times during the open window.
  • If you do not lock manually before the window closes, the system auto-locks your saved choices.
  • Once locked, choices cannot be changed for that round.

Smart Choice Filling Strategy

  • Study the previous year’s opening and closing ranks for every college and category — the cutoff section in this article has 2025 reference data. Cross-check your rank against these figures before filling.
  • Fill both government and private colleges. Limiting your list to only top government colleges with no fallback leaves you without any seat if your rank falls just short.
  • Always fill at least 15–20 colleges in your list. The more choices you add, the better the algorithm’s chance of finding you a strong allotment.
  • Do not skip less-popular colleges in your preferred city — they often have weaker competition and similar infrastructure.
  • Reserved category candidates should check category-specific seat availability in each college before filling choices — not all colleges have seats in every sub-category.

Avoid filling only top-ranked colleges. Add realistic, safe, and stretch choices in your list. The algorithm picks the best available match from your list — a longer list always works in your favour.

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027: Seat Allotment Process

Seat allotment for Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 is done online using a merit-cum-preference algorithm. The system uses your state merit rank (based on your NEET UG 2027 score among Rajasthan-domicile candidates), your category, and your locked choice list to assign the best available seat.

How the Rajasthan State Merit List Works

DME, Jaipur prepares a separate Rajasthan state merit list using NEET UG 2027 scores of all eligible Rajasthan-domicile candidates. Your position on this state list may differ from your all-India NEET rank. Seat allotment for Rajasthan state quota seats is entirely based on your state merit rank, not your national rank.

Your Options After Seat Allotment in Round 1

  • Freeze: Accept the allotted seat and exit further rounds. Report to the college and complete admission formalities. Your security deposit is adjusted against college fees.
  • Float / Upgrade: Accept the current seat but stay in the process for Round 2. If a better college comes up in Round 2, you are automatically upgraded. If not, you retain the Round 1 seat.
  • Reject / Exit: Reject the allotted seat and exit. Your security deposit may be forfeited depending on DME’s rules for 2027. Use this option only if you are sure you do not want any seat through Rajasthan NEET Counselling.

You should read the official 2027 information booklet carefully to understand the exact rules for freezing, floating, and resignation before selecting any option. Rules vary slightly between years.

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027: Four Rounds Explained

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 has four rounds of seat allotment. Each round fills vacant seats from the previous round and allows candidates to participate or upgrade. Understanding how each round works helps you plan your registration and reporting strategically.

Round Who Can Participate Expected Timeline 2027
Round 1 All eligible registered candidates August 2027
Round 2 Unallotted candidates and Round 1 allottees wanting upgrades September 2027
Mop-Up Round (Round 3) Candidates not allotted in Rounds 1–2; fresh registrations typically allowed September–October 2027
Stray Vacancy Round (Round 4) Remaining seats after Round 3 reporting; process announced by DME October–November 2027

Key Points About Rounds

  • In Round 1 and Round 2, only previously registered candidates can usually participate. Fresh registrations may or may not be open — check the official notification.
  • The Mop-Up Round typically opens fresh registrations to fill seats that remained vacant after Rounds 1 and 2. Most seats available in the Mop-Up Round are in private medical colleges.
  • The Stray Vacancy Round is the last chance for admission. It may be conducted at the college level for certain categories of seats, as per NMC guidelines and DME instructions.
  • All candidates allotted a seat must report by the reporting deadline for that round. Not reporting without withdrawing officially means seat cancellation and forfeiture of the security deposit.
  • The NMC has set November 30 as the last date for medical admissions — all processes must be completed before this date.

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 Cutoff: Previous Year Analysis

Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027 cutoff is not yet released. The data below is from the 2025 Rajasthan counselling and is for reference purposes only. The 2027 cutoff will be released by DME after each counselling round.

Cutoff Trends You Should Know

  • SMS Medical College, Jaipur is consistently the most competitive government college in Rajasthan. Its General category state-quota closing rank has stayed within 3,000–3,500 in recent years based on state merit rank.
  • OBC closing ranks generally track within 2,000–3,000 ranks of the General category closing rank.
  • SC and ST cutoffs vary more sharply year-on-year based on category-wise registration numbers and the NEET difficulty for that year.
  • Private medical colleges in Rajasthan generally close around 75,000–1.5 lakh state merit ranks for government-quota fees.
  • Round 1 cutoffs are always the toughest — later rounds (Mop-Up) often close at weaker ranks as remaining seats compete with fewer candidates. If your rank is borderline, do not give up after Round 1.

Reporting and Admission After Seat Allotment

After getting an allotment in any round of Rajasthan NEET Counselling 2027, you must report to the allotted college within the specified reporting window. This window is usually 3 to 5 days. Here is what you should do after seat allotment:

  • Download and print the provisional allotment letter from the official DME/NEET counselling portal.
  • Pay the first-year college fees as per your allotted college and category. Government college fees are regulated — private college fees are fixed by the Rajasthan Private Medical College Fee Fixation Committee.
  • Carry all original documents plus self-attested photocopies. Keep the documents checklist from the official booklet with you.
  • Report to the allotted college on or before the last day of the reporting window.
  • Complete document verification at the college admissions office. The college verifies your originals against the uploaded copies.
  • Submit the medical fitness certificate at the time of reporting if not uploaded earlier.

You can register for both simultaneously, but you can ultimately join only one seat.

Ques. Can I upgrade my seat in Round 2 after getting an allotment in Round 1?

Ans. Yes. If you get a seat in Round 1 but want a better college, choose the "Float / Upgrade" option instead of "Freeze." You join the Round 1 college but remain in the process. In Round 2, if a better college is available for your rank, you are automatically upgraded and your Round 1 seat is released. If no upgrade is available, you retain your Round 1 seat. This option carries no risk to your existing allotment.

Ques. What happens if I do not report to the allotted college on time?

Ans. If you do not report to the allotted college within the reporting window and have not officially withdrawn through the portal, your seat is automatically cancelled. Your security deposit is also forfeited as per DME counselling rules. If you decide not to join, always use the official withdrawal option on the portal within the allowed window — this protects your security deposit refund eligibility.
