A significant amount of increase in placements of engineering students has been observed since last year, the reasons for this are the enrolment of students and the opening of the job market post-pandemic.

New Delhi: According to the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), students placed in engineering courses have increased to 80.9% of the graduates being employed in 2022-23.
As per the report, the placement for courses at all levels i.e., undergraduate, diploma, and post-graduate courses has increased. In 2021-22 a total of 62.9% were placed whereas just 62% got placement opportunities in 2020-21 in the Top Engineering Colleges of India
The undergraduate level percentage went up to 89.51% in 2022-23 with 427984 of 478096 students getting employment. However, the numbers were not as high as the present scenario in the past years where out of 636024 students only 428823 got employed in the year 2021-22 which makes it 67.4%.
According to the senior official, “The economy opened up fully last year after two years of the COVID- 19 which made the companies hire more freely.”
Apart from this, the official also said that placements improve because more students can find and do internships through the AICTE’s internship portal, which is a platform for students to look out for suitable roles with a hub of recruiters putting out the internship requirements.
