DU OBE Result 2020: HC Directs Examiners to Speed Up Checking, Release Result by First Week of October
Delhi High Court asked Delhi University(DU) and its examiners to expedite the online Open Book Examination (OBE) assessment process and to declare the results preferably by the first week of October.
The court ordered DU to issue letters to the principals of all its affiliated colleges, highlighting the need to speed up the evaluation process and to expeditiously announce the results.
The Court asked the Varsity to issue a circular stating that the last date for applying for comfort (assurance) from postgraduate and undergraduate students seeking admission to foreign universities is September 18, 2020
It stated that the results of the concerned post-graduate students seeking to travel abroad for higher education should be announced before September 28, 2020.
Justices Hima Kohli and Subramonium Prasad said that the results of postgraduate students wishing to study abroad would be uploaded to the Delhi University portal on the same day on the letterhead of the varsity along with the digital signature of the official concerned, without a rider, that the result is provided.
Students can also download the results from the website.
As far as the final year undergraduate students seeking admission to foreign universities are concerned, the court has assured the Varsity Officials that the letter finalised by them for undergraduate students containing provisional results will be sent directly to the foreign university well within the deadline.
As a result, if the deadline set by a foreign university for submitting documents is September 17, 2020.
Delhi University will issue a priority letter to them.on the same date itself.
The court said that, after sending letters to foreign universities along with the provisional results of undergraduate students , the University of Delhi will inform the student concerned about this in order to allow them to apply for visas.
The court referred to the matter for further hearing on September 23, 2020 when the university gives a firm date for the declaration of results of the final year of undergraduate students.
The court informed the lawyer Mohinder Rupal, representing the University of Delhi, that they had received about 900 e-mails from students seeking admission to Indian or foreign universities for further education.
After the emails received until September 14, 2020 there are 15 and 277 postgraduate and undergraduate students, respectively, who are seeking admission to foreign universities and need to have their results declared expeditiously.
The court heard the issues faced by students who are moving abroad to higher education.
The issue arose during the hearing of a petition concerning OBE for final year undergraduate students of the DU.
The Varsity had earlier told the court that the results would be announced at the end of October.
