IIT-Delhi Joins Hand with OSM Group over MoU for Manufacturing EV Technology Empowered Vehicles

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT-Delhi) is collaborating with Omega Seiki Mobility (OSM), which is a part of the Anglian Omega Group through its industry interface organization ‘Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer’ or FITT for research in the fields of Electric Vehicle Technologies. Both the parties have agreed upon the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). 

The main focus of collaborative research will be:

  • Developing technologies for alternate energy powered vehicles
  • Improving technologies to existing Electric Powered vehicles to improve efficiency
  • Improving the performance of already existing vehicles of OSM with the help of research of FIIT, IIT-Delhi
  • To incorporate the research of the premier research institute into the design, simulation, product development, prototyping, and production of the Omega Seiki Mobility
  • The vehicle manufacturing part will be overseen by OSM whereas the design manufacturing facilities, prototyping, testing will be done by FITT IIT-Delhi
  • Two, Three, and Four wheeler vehicles will be developed under this collaboration, both parties notified.

OSM is a leading company with profound expertise in the fields of automobile manufacturing. It mainly deals with cold-forming parts of any automotive and rail bodies. India, as well as foreign countries, are their target markets. With the new era in automation caused by the innovation of vehicles empowered with alternative energy, OSM is planning to broaden its production. This requires in-depth knowledge of this topic of alternative resources and how to incorporate it into vehicles. This is where one of India’s greatest excellent institute IIT-Delhi steps in. OSM currently has developed two hubs for technology-driven manufacturing highly efficient powertrain machine parts in Faridabad and Chennai locations.

Uday Narang, chairman, Anglian Omega Group along with Dr. Anil Wali, MD, FITT-IIT-Delhi both stated that the technology-driven solution of the alternate energy-driven vehicle has collaborated two different entities into one motto. Both parties are excited about the scope and process of the upcoming research and successful application of the same into new-age vehicles.

OSM has already launched its exclusive Rage and Rage+ electric three-wheelers for the B2B segment, at the Auto Expo 2020. The upcoming plan is to launch EV technology-driven two-wheelers on Diwali and Electric pickup trucks in the upcoming three years.
