IIT Kanpur laid the Foundation of Research and Technology Park "Technoparkiitk"

October 22, 2020: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has laid the foundation of its one of a kind research and technology park on October 20, 2020. The park was named "Technoparkiitk" by the respective members of the University.

The main objective of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, behind the foundation of "Technoparkiitk" is to develop indigenous cutting-edge technologies with industries of India. It furthers a vision of the technology development ecosystem in the country.

During the founding event, Members of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur led the event including Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IITK, Professor S Ganesh, Deputy Director, IITK, Professor Avinash Agarwal, and Professor In-charge IITK.

The project aims to push maximum usage of technology in the value chain to level up the TRL up to 3-9. The Phase II infrastructure is measured up to 2.5 lakh square feet. The construction is six levels high and designed in specific ways to accommodate big and small companies.

The infrastructure of the first two floors of the building is made especially for the heavy engineering industries of India.

As per the layout, the sixth floor will accommodate the house chemical and bioengineering industries while the fourth floor will have IT industry.

As per the official infrastructure plan, the building will be made with facilities such as Ready and offices, labs, Conferencing Facilities, Meeting Rooms, Large Common Areas, Cafeteria, ATMs, Creche, Recreational Facilities, and many state-of-the-art facilities.

The foundation of Technopark lies under not-for-profit Section 8. Intentions behind the foundation of Technopark are to accelerate and facilitate collaborations between IIT Kanpur, industry, and government.

The Technopark is now the home of seven companies with R&D offices at Technoparkiitk. Several other industries are soon to make “Technoparkiitk” as their business hub.
