IIT Madras to Organise Kashi Tamil Sangamam Phase 2

New Delhi: IIT Madras will begin the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam from December 17 to December 30, 2023. Interested persons can submit their registrations for Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) phase 2 till December 8, 2023 at kashitamil.iitm.ac.in.

KTS will be held for one month by IIT Madras and the Ministry of Education to celebrate and cherish the age-old links between Tamil Nadu and Varanasi. IIT Madras and IIT BHU will act as the respective implementing agencies in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh.

Informing about this program, the official website reads, “The second edition of this Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme is proposed to be held from December 17, 2023, the first day of the holy Tamil month of Margali, to December 30, 2023”.

“Like its first edition, this program proposes to take forward the objective of reviving the living bonds between Varanasi and Tamil Nadu - two important centres of learning and culture in ancient India - by facilitating people-to-people connections across different walks of life”, it added.

IIT Madras Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2023 Highlights

During the second phase of KTS, over 1,400 individuals from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are anticipated to embark on an eight-day journey to Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya via train. 

Diverse groups, including students, teachers, farmers, craftsmen, traders, entrepreneurs, religious scholars, and professionals will be categorised into seven groups, each comprising approximately 200 individuals. The groups will adopt names inspired by revered rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Sindhu, Narmada, Godavari, and Cauvery.

A committee will be constituted to handpick delegates who will then embark on a journey to explore historical, tourist, and religious landmarks in Uttar Pradesh. They'll engage with individuals from their respective professional domains during this excursion.

IIT Madras will partner with institutions in Tamil Nadu to conduct a series of awareness-building and outreach initiatives. These programs will include workshops, seminars, meetings, and various outreach campaigns to engage the community. The program will be held from December 1 to December 31, 2023.
