NIMCET 2026 Counselling Registration and Choice Filling Extended to July 4

The NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) 2026 counselling deadline stands extended. National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli has issued the revised schedule. Qualified candidates can now register and fill choices till July 4. The deadline closes at 5 PM on the official portal. The portal is available at nimcet.admissions.nic.in.

The extension covers the online registration and choice filling stage. The window had opened on June 30 with an earlier July 3 close. Server-based automatic locking of choices will now occur after 5 PM. Candidates who miss this cut-off cannot enter round 1.

NIMCET 2026 counselling handles MCA admissions across 11 NITs and 2 IIITs. Admission is based only on the NIMCET 2026 All India Rank. The counselling fee is non-refundable at the registration stage.

Participating NITs and IIITs Under NIMCET 2026

Counselling covers 13 institutes across the country for the two-year MCA programme. Choice filling must factor in personal branch preference and past cut-offs.

NIMCET 2026 Counselling Rounds Explained

The counselling runs through multiple rounds of seat allotment. Each round starts with the release of an updated seat matrix. Candidates may float, slide, or withdraw based on their allotment status.

A special round with fresh choice filling comes at the end. It fills any remaining vacant seats across the participating institutes. Candidates who missed the earlier rounds can also join at that stage.

How to Register and Fill Choices on the NIMCET 2026 Portal?

Candidates must complete registration and choice filling in one continuous flow. Missing the July 4 cut-off blocks entry into round 1. The steps below follow the sequence given on the official portal.

  • Visit the official NIMCET counselling portal before the deadline.
  • Log in using your NIMCET 2026 application number and password.
  • Fill personal, category, and academic details in the registration form.
  • Pay the counselling fee online through net banking, cards, or UPI.
  • Add and order your preferred institute and programme choices.
  • Review your list and lock the choices manually before the cut-off.

Choices left unlocked will be auto-locked by the server at the cut-off. Manual locking is safer as it avoids last-minute portal load issues.

What Happens After Choice Locking?

Round 1 seat allotment follows the closing of the registration window. Candidates get their allotted institute and programme on the same portal. Those allotted a seat must pay the initial institute fee online. This step confirms the seat and unlocks the online reporting stage.

Why This Matters

NIMCET is the single gateway for MCA admission at 13 top public institutes. Admission runs purely on rank, with no interview or group discussion stage. Missing the extended window shuts the door on the round 1 allotment entirely.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Verify your NIMCET 2026 rank slot and category status offline first.
  2. Keep scanned copies of mark sheets, ID proof, photo, and signature ready.
  3. Draft your institute-programme priority list on paper before opening the portal.
  4. Arrange the counselling fee in your preferred payment app or account.
  5. Set aside funds for the initial institute fee due after allotment.
  6. Complete registration and lock choices well before the 5 PM cut-off.
  7. Install the Sandes app to receive official counselling notifications.
Keep an Eye On

Watch the portal for the round 1 seat allotment result and the online reporting window. Track the special round schedule and any further notices from NIT Tiruchirappalli.
