The Ministry of Education has announced a major NTA overhaul with a four-tier paper check system, removal of 600 experts, induction of new specialists, and CISF-secured offices to boost exam integrity across all NTA tests.

NTA Exam Overhaul 2026: 4-Tier Paper Checks, CISF, 600 Experts Out

The Ministry of Education has announced a major National Testing Agency overhaul. The reforms cover paper checks, expert panels, and office security. The plan was briefed to the ministry on August 18, 2026.

The overhaul sets up a four-tier question paper checking system. It also removes 600 old experts from the exam team. Fresh specialists will be inducted to replace them.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) teams will guard NTA offices. NTA Director General Abhishek Singh briefed the ministry on these steps. Education Minister Pralhad Joshi cleared the reform plan.

The move follows the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak scandal. UGC-NET June 2026 was cancelled a day after the exam. These crises pushed the ministry to act on a war footing.

Which Exams Will See These New Security Rules?

The reforms cover every national exam run by NTA. This includes NEET-UG, JEE Main, and CUET-UG. UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, and CUET-PG are also covered.

Other central admission and scholarship tests fall under the same rules. All future test cycles from 2026 onwards will use the new system.

NTA Exam Integrity Timeline

Period Event
June 2026 NEET-UG paper leak triggered nationwide protests
June 2026 UGC-NET June session cancelled a day after the exam
July 2026 CBI probe launched into the paper leak network
2026 High-level committee reviewed NTA processes and systems

How Will the 4-Tier Paper Checking System Work?

The four-tier system adds multiple review layers before printing. Each question paper will pass through four separate checks. This aims to catch errors and prevent early leaks.

The exact tier-wise protocol is not public yet. NTA will share full details in future official notifications. New expert panels will lead each review stage.

What Kind of Domain Experts Are Being Inducted?

The ministry is hiring private-sector specialists in key areas. These include cybersecurity, psychometrics, and question paper design. Between 20 and 25 senior officials will join in two to three weeks.

Fresh induction will continue in later phases. The aim is to build deep in-house testing expertise at NTA.

Background You Should Know
