TNEA 2026 Tentative Allotment Out for Special Reservation Category at tneaonline.org; Provisional Allotment to Release on July 19

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu has released the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 tentative allotment for the special reservation category. Candidates can check the allotment on the official portal at tneaonline.org. The provisional allotment for the same category will be issued on July 19, 2026.

TNEA 2026 counselling covers admissions to 2,65,594 engineering seats across 484 institutions in Tamil Nadu. The special reservation round is being held before the general counselling begins.

Who Falls Under the Special Reservation Category?

The special reservation round covers four candidate groups defined by DoTE. Each group has a fixed quota within TNEA seats. The tentative allotment released today applies to these groups.

• Differently Abled candidates – 5 percent horizontal reservation across 21 categories
• Wards of Ex-Servicemen – 150 seats
• Eminent Sportspersons – 500 seats
• Vocational stream candidates – 2 percent reservation

What Is the Difference Between Tentative and Provisional Allotment?

The tentative allotment is the first output of the counselling round. It shows the seat a candidate is likely to receive based on rank, choices, and reservation. The candidate can then choose to accept, reject, or opt for upward movement.

The provisional allotment is issued once the candidate confirms the tentative result. It is the formal seat allocation used for admission at the college. For the special reservation round, this step falls on July 19, 2026.

How to Check the TNEA 2026 Tentative Allotment?

Candidates in the special reservation category can view their allotment on the official TNEA portal. The login uses the application number and password set during registration.

• Open the official website at tneaonline.org.
• Click on the candidate login link on the home page.
• Enter the application number and password.
• Open the tentative allotment section on the dashboard.
• Download and save a copy for reference.

Seat Matrix and Rank List Snapshot

TNEA 2026 has assigned ranks to 2,36,017 candidates. Of these, 1,30,767 are male, 1,05,245 are female, and 5 are transgender candidates. A total of 53 candidates scored the maximum cutoff of 200 out of 200.

The seat matrix has grown this year. Tamil Nadu has added 19,657 fresh engineering seats over the last cycle. Total seats now stand at 2,65,594 across 484 colleges.
