Remarks
VIT genuinely has an amazing infrastructure however it is getting more and more expensive and taking in more and more students which I feel is degrading the quality of the college as a whole but at the same time, it ensures that only because a person didn't do well in the written entrance and exams on paper, he/she is not Devoid of educational opportunities.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is pretty decent. We follow ffcs (fully flexible credit system) where we are allowed to select the courses of our choice from the ones available before the start of every semester. Faculties can be chosen as per choice based on who all are available for taking up the courses. Every course has a certain number of credits to be taken in order to get the degree and in a semester 16-27 credits can be registered. Every B. tech. the program has a set of University core courses (common for all branches of BTech) and Program core courses (specific to the branch) that are compulsory but can be taken in any semester that one wishes to take it in (the prerequisites must be cleared by the student in order to take up a course). Then come the electives. A required number of electives are supposed to be chosen. Program electives are branch-specific and University electives are vast and subjects if any branch can be taken. A typical day is hectic or chills depending on what timetable you end up with after ffcs course registration and how many credits you have registered for. Because the number of classes and number of exams depends on that. There is another opportunity for research but you must know which faculty to work with wisely as getting things done properly is what benefits you in the end.
Placement Experience
Placements and job opportunities are what VIT is known for and honestly, it's really good compared to other private colleges in Indian companies like Amazon, Udaan, Amdocs, American Express, JP Morgan, etc. Come with pretty good packages for the software domain people. And people actually get selected for it. The job opportunities for core subjects like EEE Civil Mechanical engineering is however lesser and the pay offered is also less. Companies like Amazon, ZS associates, myntra also come for management roles and design roles and offer decent pay for the same. The regular mass companies take students in bulk and Almost everyone who has registered for placements and applies for all or most of the companies gets placed in one or the other.
College Events
Two major college fests are organized by faculty Incharges and students in a year. Cultural- Riviera (4days) Riviera is the best time of one's college life it has a lot of fun events, games, food stalls, dance, and music performances and competitions, and also pro shows (concerts by popular celebrities that come to the college). It is extremely well organized and a fun time for college students. Technical - Gravitas (2/3days) If compared to Riviera, it is shorter and has fewer fun events and more technical stuff. Workshops like robotics, AI, hackathons, etc. Take place, food stalls are also present. And events by clubs and chapters related to Technology and knowledge related are organized.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Depends on your rank. There are various categories. 1,2,3,4 and the fee increased depending on what rank you got in VITEEE. It ranges from 1. 5 lakhs per annum to 4 lakhs per annum for the same course. Scholarship opportunities are also there for exceptionally meritorious and not-so-well-off ones but I don't have much knowledge regarding that.
Fees and Financial Aid
On the basis of VITEEE. Ranks 1-10,000 get a scholarship of 50,000per years and 10000-20000 get a scholarship of 25000per year. Students are also given scholarships of 1000-5000 depending on academic achievements in an academic year.
Campus Life
Labs are very well equipped. With the latest software and equipment. Dorm parties are never organized, to be honest. The gender ratio is also pretty decent but a few dress code rules are expected to be followed.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel rooms are really good compared to what you get in other colleges. One can choose between AC and non-AC rooms and 1bed, 2bed, 4bed, 6bed in the lady's hostel. There are 4 blocks for Btech students. Room allotment is based on academic performance and one person needs to attend it on behalf of his/her future roommates. In the first year, you are randomly allotted roommates but after that, you can choose your own. Mess options are- veg, nonveg, special, food park (paid mess menu).
Alumni/Alumna
They didn't realize how amazing it was here until they got out of here as the rules can be a little intimidating. But the opportunities that they got to grow as a person were ample and seniors are generally very helpful. There it's absolutely no kind of ragging on campus. Alumni network I'm not sure of.
Admission
Entrance exam VITEEE. After the results were out, we were asked to come for counseling sessions where we were asked to choose the branch of our choice depending on the availability. The counseling session is in two parts. The ranks from 1-20,000 have to appear for the first counseling session and so on.
Faculty
The faculty is pretty decent and qualified, not exceptionally amazing at teaching to be honest but not bad either. They regularly take classes and try their best to at least provide the material before exams via the online portal (for civilians). It again depends on what faculty one takes during course registration.
