Remarks

The college management works remarkably when it comes to managing the students. They respond to student queries and give continuous updates to students regarding ongoing events and important notices. The only issue is the number of students to handle is high which can be difficult for the university at times.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is decided and set by a group of faculty with experience in the field of teaching and the course. The curriculum is kept up to date with the technology and advancements made now. The curriculum and exam structure provides a different experience for the students as there are projects, assignments, and industrial visits for the courses to give the students an insight and idea about the current situation in the industry.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placements are a huge factor in the reputation VIT has earned. Companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, PayPal ranging from multinationals to startups have visited the campus for their placement drives. The students are asked to first register for placements if they are willing to sit for interviews. There is a special placement cell that guides students for placement related activities. There is specialized training that starts around February or March that focuses on training students for the placement process. After a few months, companies visit the campus and placements take place. Approximately, 74% of the students have been placed.

College Events

4.5

There are two main festivals VIT conducts every year. The technical fest Gravitas generally comes in the month of October with workshops, hackathons, and other major technical events. The cultural fest Riviera comes in the month of February which lasts for 4 days. It has a huge number of events occurring with many students and sponsors involved. These two festivals are enormous in terms of student participation- not just internal but external students and guests coming in from various parts of the world.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible compared to other private institutions for engineering. My program fee is 1,98,000 and the college accepts payments in the form of Debit card, credit card, and DD. I had no additional charge in getting admission for the course and the admission was purely based on my rank. There was complete transparency in terms of the fee breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has offered scholarship opportunities for the top 1000 students in the entrance exam. Once the student gets admission to the college, the top ten in each course get a scholarship. The average amount of scholarship provided was 25% of tuition fees.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life is one that every student wishes for while studying for their 12th board exams. It is a very wonderful campus with full of nature. There are a lot of opportunities for sports as there are courts and grounds specially maintained for that purpose. There are competitions and hackathons organized very often for the students to participate in. The campus is very diverse with students from different regions and countries of the world. There is very little tolerance for racial/sexual discrimination. There is no ragging on the campus. The gender ratio is very high as there are many male students as compared to female students.

Hostel Facilities

4

Yes, I have opted for a hostel. There are options for sharing and the caterers offered in terms of vegetarian/nonvegetarian and variety of food. The hostel rooms are of different sizes based on the student's choice of sharing. The male students have 1 bed, 2 bed, 3 bed, 4 bed, and 6-bed sharing rooms at the moment. The food and hygiene are up to the mark. There is electricity and water at all times and there is a choice of air-conditioned and non AC rooms.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network and seniors are very well connected. The seniors are very helpful in sharing their experience and advices when it comes to academics and general life tips. Interaction with the seniors has taught me the true essence of college life and living.

Admission

Yes, I am a student of this college. There is an entrance exam known as VITEEE which is generally after the 12th-grade board exams. VIT releases an application form that is supposed to be filled by the applicant with necessary details such as the Aadhaar number, permanent address, etc. There are a fixed number of options for the slot and dates. Choose the one suitable for you and give the exam. A few weeks later, the results are announced and there is a date assigned for counseling. Once you attend the counseling, you will be shown the number of seats left for each course depending on your rank. Choose the appropriate course and your details will be taken. The fee structure, the allotment, the ID card photo would be discussed with you. I have opted for computer science. I am interested in data science and I want to learn the appropriate course necessary for that domain. Vellore Institute of Technology is a college that offers exposure with ample opportunities and chances for students to prove their worth. The teaching, the environment, and the management have always been well organized and combined units with experience in the field of education.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is well experienced and knowledgeable. They have depth and clarity in the subjects they teach. The average age of the faculty is around 35 years and the minimum qualifications are Ph.D. The subjects they teach and the on-field experience they have is a very important asset as this allows them to teach the students in not just a textbook method but also impart practical and research-driven knowledge.

Students can join job drives from the 7th term. Many firms visit the campus for jobs and offer roles in tech and other fields. The pay varies by firm and role. EEC has a good job rate and gives help for job prep. After my degree, I plan to work in the tech field and grow my skills.

Students are open to campus placements from 2nd year onwards. There are many companies who visit such as Delloite, Accenture, Cognizant, TCS, Amazon, NatWest, Nokia, etc. Highest package offered is 42 lpa and lowest is maybe 2-4lpa. Around 90% of students get placed here. My plans is to get a job through campus recruitment. Currently I got an internship through campus recruitment in Cognizant so the recruitment is quite nice here.
