NIT Goa- a budding stage

Since we were only the 2nd batch of the college, with No, proper infrastructure and facility. The course were truly theory based. The more of programming and system related courses were included and driven which at this present stage has only limited to certain extend. The curriculum was good covering the topics must for the graduation. but No, engineering aspects were explored. it all was understanding based on your capability.

Only couple of core companies were there for placement for electrical. Though for computers they were good amount of companies. Around 40-50% eligible students were placed with the end of the placement period. Institute was just a platform for the companies to meet student. They were least bothered to develop and motivate students for cracking the interviews or the procedures. They believed in in Self service.

We used to have an intra sports competition. Limited to evening time as was not mitivated by the faculty hence often the No,n hosteller users to drop the plan of participation. Other cultural festivals (couple of them)were started by the end of our graduation having an good growth.

Since this was a government college the fees were quite good. And they were No, such hidden charges. One time semester payment was done and then only the next semester it was asked. And they expected only payment via DD back then and No, other modes. Maybe things have evolved Now.

No, There were No, scholarship avaialble as such which were provided by the institute. Though people have arranged for loans via external sources.

Since this was merit based the gender ratio was quite low I. e. 1:6 girls :boys. Student parties were done among group of students on occasions. There were as such No, big cultural events. No,r clubs to promote such things. though by end of our graduation, things started to change. wit the more and more people joining us.

No, I didn’t avail due to the pathetic conditions of the hostel. Though I used to stay over some times, were quite difficult to cope up with the hygiene and the food quality. The rooms were kinda 2bhk staff quarters converted to hostel. Making it overloaded by adjusting all people in.

Got alumini group and often mails are circulated. not helpful for me individually though people have been in touch with the institute.

Got selected for councils via the AIEEE exams in 2011. With the home quota applicable got admission in the 4th or 5th round. Though my father have been working and related to field of Electrical. it wasn’t a dilemma for me to choose Electrical Engineering for my graduation. The admission process were quite simple being an government institute, all they asked for the basic documents in orignal and some amount via DD for the seat confirmation.

The faculty were No, doubt some best in their field and at par in their qualification. Supported at every step and wherever they can. The hierarchy were followed by the institute keeping the HoD and all staffs addressing the students accordingly. The lectures were from reNowned institute and had a lot of experience behind them.
