Remarks

I'll be all positive about college. Being from a middle class family of Jamshedpur, it was really great to study there. Maybe I found a new myself there because of all the love and affection I received from everyone in college. Our principal and teachers were so kind and loved us so much. I really don't have an idea about what people think about college, but it was really home for me. It's a great atmosphere for someone moving out of home for the first time. Everyone in college will be very happy to have you unless you don't want to be so.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is following the norms and regulations of the University of Calcutta. All syllabus and everything is based on the same. Exam structure usually focused on an end semester or a pre-university college exam followed by the University exam after that. Class test and debates are held based on the teacher's decision.

Placement Experience

3.5

Being the first batch of The Heritage College, I did not quite get the chance to have such an experience. However, seeing the growth of the college, Companies and Industries are soon expected to visit college to provide internships in the coming years.

College Events

5

College has a sports day, an ethnic day, founders day, and an annual day as per official college events. Also, a freshers as well as a farewell party is organised. At regular intervals there are seminars and debates that are conducted for the various departments. All events are well monitored by the teachers and are really fun filled with being leaning at the same time.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Very feasible for a middle class family. I paid a fee of only RS 28,000 for a semester. I consider that this is a very minimal amount as compared to other colleges. Other than that we only pay rs 10,000 as admission fee and rs 10,000 in the beginning of the course as caution deposit which is returned later.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are not offered to be honest. However, what I noticed is that, the fee structure demands such a minimal rate that usually loans are not required to study here. Any middle class family can afford it. However, I had heard of a news that the college arranges and provide loans at very less interest rates for families who are below the poverty line.

Campus Life

4.5

Extra curricular is usually separated by groups but united by spirit. We have a sports club, a drama club, a dance club, a music club and dozens of more clubs. All the club's are given separate time durations for their performance during all college events. Many clubs also do participate in other college events and so real great. The Drama Club won at ISI, Kolkata last year at their event. The sports club is most busy during sports days. However other than that we keep having games etc throughout the year. The Lab facilities are real good. I have seen them for myself however not used them as I am an economics student. But they are real clean and the staff is so helpful. There is a computer lab, a physics labs and a chemistry lab. We have a great library and the assistant there is really helpful. She got us all books whatever we ordered for.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network is growing at the moment as it has just been that the college is in 3 years of its establishment. I was fortunate of being the very first batch and so we are really treated as being special. However, we as seniors tried our level best to be with the juniors and help them in whatever they require. We had a real fun time in college. I really miss college, It meant home for me.

Admission

First after the declaration of my ISC result I had to fill out the form published by the college on the college website. After being shortlisted based on merit, I was called for an interview and admission was thus accepted by the college authority.

Faculty

4.5

College has appointed excellent faculty for Economics. However, I am unaware about other courses but Economics faculties are well qualified, punctual, and eager to help us. They are always very well planned and help us in all way possible.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
