Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum matches quite perfectly with the industry standards. The course offers the students a theoritical as well as a practical approach of learning. For example, nowadays AI has revolutionised the internet and made things much easier for humans. it gives a vast amount of knowledge regarding the relevance of "media science" nowadays. I feel the frequency of continuous assessments should be reduced to 3 instead of 4.

Internships Opportunities

1

Internships were not directly given to us. We were added to a google classroom where we got job openings and internship opportuinites. Top recruiters include SVF, which came to the college to conduct a placement drive.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fees is 55000 per semester and the library fees is 2000 per semester. There are 6 semesters. The admission fees is 30000. The caution deposit is 20000. Unviersity development fees is 2200.

Campus Life

4

We had an engaing 3 years of campus life. There were mainly 3 major events: AdAdda, Journoscope and the Heritage Academy Film Festival. These include competitions, workshops, guest lectures, fun games and days where we work as a team and gain leadership skills. Some of the competitions include Brand Pitching, Copywriting, Short Film Making, Photography competition. There are fashion, drama, dance and music clubs and students took part in various college events in the respective fields. Sports was the main backlash of this department. We only had 2 major tourneys of sports in 3 years. Infrastructure is above average as it is a private college and the fees justifies so. Classrooms are nit airconditioned. Library had a huge amount of books from all genres. Maclab, AV Lab, Seminar hall and News Studio are well maintained.

Admission

In order to apply for BMS, we had to fill a Common entrance test(CET) form and appear for the exam. Now you will qualify for the college according to the rank you acquire after the results of the test. My first preference was The Heritage Academy. The other options include iLead and Techno Main Salt Lake. But I chose THA solely because of the faculty and campus life. I also got selected for admission at St. Xaviers University, Kolkata. But I chose The Heritage Academy because it edges over others in terms of quality faculty members, engaging college life, and an anti-ragging campus. After clearing the CET conducted by MAKAUT, I had to clear a round of personal interview with respected Dean Ma'am of the Media Science department.

Faculty

4

The faculty is really good and well experienced. They are knowledgeable and helpful. Some of them have their masters degree from reouted institutes. Dean ma'am is really polite and friendly with all the students. Faculty members are quite approchable at any time of the day and some are very frank.

Interview Experience

5

I faced a written test as well as a personal interview. The written test was common for all the aspirants applying to colleges affiliated to MAKAUT. I secured 44 rank in the CET and got selected for the interview round. For the CET, I prepared from the internet. In the interview I was asked the SOP and I answered that, it was a chill interview with ma'am asking about my hobbies and aspirations.

Other Applied Colleges

St. Xavier's University - [SXUK] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Mass Communication)

THA is a far better option.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
