Remarks

Overall it was a good experience. I miss the food and friends the most. And it all ended on a good note because of the good placement offer that I got.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum is well structured but a bit old for information technology. Nevertheless, it is more industry and research-oriented than most other colleges. It has a fully flexible credit system which gives you the freedom to choose your subjects up to some extent. You will have to pass all the core subjects, but you get a choice in electives. Eg. You will have to study data structure, but which foreign language you'd like to make is up to you.

Placement Experience

5

This is the unique selling point of VIT. The placements here are really excellent, as far as computer science and information technology are concerned. Most of the students(who were deserving in any way) were able to get an offer of 7-8 LPA on average. I myself was fortunate enough to get an internship at a reputed company and PPO of 12LPA in the same company. Tech giants such as Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco, PayPal, de-Shaw, Atlassian, etc. visited our campus this year. They offered generous packages. Atlassian's was maximum with 40LPA. There are also service-based offers in TCS, cognizant, etc. Everyone who wishes gets placed in here(it's very hard not to :-p).

College Events

3.5

Gravitas is one of the biggest tech fests in India. It is organized in the month of august there are various workshops and events to showcase your tech talent here. Riviera is the event to attend. It is one of the best college fests in India with big stars like Ayushmaan Khurana, Suresh Raina, Farhan Akhtar, Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, Amit Trivedi and more, performing on stage. Also, standup comics like Biswa, Kannan, Zakir, Rahul Subramanian, Sahil Shah have been a part of it. Throughout the year there will be some other events going on organized by some club or chapter.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I would tell you the structure, it's for you to decide if it's expensive or not. My annual college fee was 1. 78 lakhs and I received a 50, 000 scholarship on top of this because of my decent AIR. These fees can vary from 1. 78 up to 4-5 lakhs annually depending on your rank in the entrance test.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, I was given a scholarship of Rs. 50000 annually which was provided to everyone who scored a rank under 10000 in the entrance exam(more than 2 lakh candidates appear for it every year). I was fortunate to score it under 6K and so I received the scholarship. It was a 4-year course, so 4 x 50000 = 2 Lakh worth of scholarship was received in total.

Campus Life

4

The gender ratio is the thing that sucks the most. Even in the branch like CS and IT, the ratio is still 10:1. Not enough guys will be able to get girls. Diversity is a plus point, you will end up having friends from every part of the country and sometimes even beyond. The crowd here is very diverse, you will find every kind of person here. Sometimes you might even have Chinese and Africans studying in your class.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Yes, I had opted for a hostel. You can find every type of room as per your requirement and budget. There are single, 2 shared, 3 shared, 4 shared, and 6 shared rooms available. AC as well as Non-AC rooms are available. The rooms are decent but a bit cramped up. Bathrooms and toilets are common and there is no concept of attached bathrooms.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful in college. Ragging is considered a crime and there are no cases of it in college. Strict actions are taken against the ones found indulging in it. There are social media groups of VIT alumni's, if you have any query, they get answered here.

Admission

There is a dedicated entrance test conducted by the university. It can be given online from any part of the country, As well as abroad(yes, there are a few foreigners in the college). The test is conducted in April and the counseling usually occurs in May. I secured AIR 5k and got admission into my preferred branch Information Technology.

Faculty

2.5

You will find some faculties with very good subject knowledge, some with very good nature and you're really lucky you'll find one with both. Most facilities lack what it takes to be a teacher in a university(that's solely my experience), or maybe they're just not motivated enough. But there are certain gems in the midst. And if you're really lucky you'll be able to get them in the FFCS.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
