BHU, BA {Hons.}

Remarks

It is one of the top university in India, doing a bachelors from here is an honour. I also got a lot of recommendation about it. My cousin was Final year student in BA when I took admission, she told me, it is a good University having great faculty and infrastructure. In BA(hons) you get a lot of subject (around 150 combinations) to choose from, ranging from Mathematics to various language subjects (like Urdu), in which you can pursue your honours.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course was good in BHU. My subjects were Geography (hons), Mathematics, Applied Statistics. Their are few subjects which are taken seriously and regular classes are conducted for them, but the various other subjects in BA are taken very lightly and even attendance is not also given much importance, attendance only affects your sessional marks and nothing else, almost everyone gets the admit card regardless of their attendance.

Class Size: 80Course Fees: INR 80000 per year

Placement Experience

2.5

Very few companies visit the campus in BA, and only a few students from the subjects like foreign languages(French, Russian) are placed. Though some companies like TCS also visit but they mostly go for PG students.

College Events

4.5

Campus life is great in BHU, I got to make a lot of friends. BHU has a lot of extracurricular activities ranging from NSS, NCC(including Airforce) to various competitions being conducted at faculty and University level. At University level 'Spandan' is held in which winners from various faculties and affiliated colleges participate, and apart from these various sammelan (Kavi Sammelan), seminars also conducted.

Campus Life

4.5

In terms of infrastructure, it is one of the best Universities in India, all the hostels have a separate ground for them to play, and they are of good size. Wi-Fi is provided to all the students of BHU regardless of wether they live in hostels, they are given 4gb of data daily. BHU has one Central (for reading and issuing textbooks) and one Cyber (having around 300 computers) apart from the various Faculty and subject library. In terms of equipments in labs they are sufficient.

Perspective as a VCW student

Likes

Facility and infrastructure is really good . In facility we get good internet connection e.g , talking about labs too , we get well equipped class and materials needed for the test , sometimes it may be bit defective aur old.
Teachers are the best things about this college. Course curriculum are designed in the way that you cover everything about the topic infact , sec , aec courses are also designed in students favour only .
The campus area and environment is good too , you may find the campus area small but it's really beautiful and peaceful , there is gym , canteen , ground with basketball and badminton court . You may not get the top notch facility but its not worse.

Dislikes

The first thing could be interior and mangement of washrooms. Canteen could be more better and provide more options . In summer , other than library we get no other sitting area , except the open classroom which are in tolerable in heat.
The bus management is worse too, I left the bus service because of their management.
The fests are not worse but could be organized in more better way .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I personally find the curriculum to be well made and in favour wit the students. In teaching methods , the subjects that demand practical exposure should be given tasks to be conducted on the real life situation, like the opportunity we get during internship . They should provide task like that .

Great learning environment, experienced faculty, and value for money education.

Likes

The faculty members are very supportive, highly experienced, and always ready to help students with their queries.
The course fee is extremely affordable and provides great value for money for students in this region.
The campus has a peaceful learning environment with a good gender ratio of around 1:1 for boys and girls.

Dislikes

On-campus placement opportunities are limited, and students mostly need to look for off-campus jobs.
Campus infrastructure needs modernization, including better Wi-Fi access and updated lab equipment.
More practical exposure and industry-oriented training programs should be added to the curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers all essential topics required for higher studies. The curriculum is detailed and helps build strong subject basics. Teaching methods are traditional, so adding more interactive sessions and skill-based learning would be a great improvement. Exams take place every semester along with internal class tests, which helps in continuous evaluation without extra stress

THE OXFORD OF THE EAST

Likes

The fees is affordable in comparison to Delhi University.
The scholarship scheme is definitely helpful for those who are economically weak.
The main campus has a central library so its quite helpful

Dislikes

The books in the central library are quite outdated
The lack of infrastructure in the affiliated colleges of AU
No merit based scholarship scheme available for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm from humanities background so the course is quite relevant for me. The course is quite outdated however it's the same for most of the universities. the curriculum should be aligned with the competitive exams and the teaching methods should be more inclusive about the competitive exams so that the student can prepare well not only for the present course but also further upcoming exams.

If you are really passionate you will get amazing opportunities to get experience.

I have applied in 5 college such as BHU AU DU BBAU and vishwa bharati Many for BA and BSc course through CUET UG, I got BHU and AU but at the end I have switched to BHU because of it is closer to my home and well known for me. I got seat in AU but same time BHU also, so I have to decide one. I put my seat for upgradation and then BVoc HTM. From 2022, there is only one entrance exam to take admission in all central state University in india. That is CUET common university entrance test conducted by NTA. Excellent Place for higher education

My college provide best education and hostel facility in india.Security is very good. Managment is very good.Transport facility inside the campus in now very good. Placements : The institute actually has very good placement records due to its outstanding alumni and also due to the presence of placement and training cell working day and night to indulge its students with skills and leadership. So, the placements in our college have never been a problem. Infrastructure : With almost hundred years on the calendar, our campus is luxurious from inside and filled with modern day necessities from inside. We have every resource that a student wants in his college life such as largely spaced room, Wi-Fi everywhere around the campus and many more things. So, the campus is unmatched. Faculty : The faculty members are nice, and I found them very helping and motivating. On the other hand, the course curriculum is a bit boring but essential too. A load of academics is very less compared to other IITs and hence students can do anything they want and could carry on their interest. I feel very proud to be a part of IIT BHU. Other : There are three main fests in our college, Kashiyatra, Technex and Spardha. All the fests are held at very high level. Participation from many IITs, NITs and other different colleges from many parts of India make our fests super big and exciting....Read More
