Remarks

One of the positive thing is the environment of our college. It's really enjoyable, for a studious and non studious both. Students can explore them in way as they want. Also the college has a very good library, AC reading halls and many more. Nothing that negative

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Actually PEC offers Degree for B.E. i.e. Bachelor's Engineering so it is more of the theoretical part. Over all course curriculum is good. There is an option for upgradation in Branch based on CGPA of first semester. In first semester all branches just have 1 core subjects and others are related to +1 and +2 level subjects like Maths, Physical Chemistry, First 2 semesters include a subject of Humanity(ethics, communication). One thing i don't like, there is a subject Environmental Education and literally it is of no use. In 3rd year student have to submit a minor project and in 4th year 2 major projects Each in 2 semesters. College have many societies that offer research and different projects namely-: Robotics, IEEE, ASPS(Astronomy and space physics society), ASME(american society of mechanical engineering), ASCE(American Society of Civil Engineering). There are many Collabrations project with DRDO and other industries, and students can also work in these projects.

Placement Experience

4.5

Every year placement scenario improves in PEC. In 2019 CSE -: 42 lacs(highest), 14.8 lacs(Average) Aerospace-: 11.5(highest), 6.08(average) Civil-: 10.8(Highest).6.09(average) Electronics-:19.67(highest),8.42(Average) Electrical-: 19.67(highest), 8.02(average) Mechanical-: 21(highest), 7.21 (average) Metallurgy-: 11.5(highest),6.2(average) Production -: 21(highest), 7.29(average) [ALL FIGURES ARE IN LACS] In branches like Civil the highest package little because mostly got placed in core companies, non core companies offer a higher package then core ones. About 80% from circuital branches and 60-70% students from non circuital branches got placed each year. In 5th semester there are a lot of companies visit and offer internships namely Goldman Sachs, JP morgan

College Events

4.5

Our College conducts one of the biggest witnessing a total footfall of 45,000,Techno-Cultural Event of North India i.e. PECFEST. It is a marvelous event of 3 days comprising many of technical and cultural events. Many societies organize their events in this fest and winners are rewarded and awarded handsomely. On last night of fest always there a star night, previous it was GURU RANDHAWA who banged the night, so much fun there. Besides this our college organizes an event named OPEN HOUSE, where student share their ideas about innovation and what they want to do etc. And, also a 3 day sports meet is also conducted every year where college witness a massive participation from students of college. Other events are organized by the technical and Cultural clubs we have Dramatics club, Music Club for self development we have societies-: VOYAGERS(event organizing), IMAGES(event organizing), Les Amis, NCC, NSS. These all give a nice surrounding to the students and one should take part in any one at least.

Fees and Financial Aid

Firstly no loans are available from our college, but yes there are various scholarship schemes, for EWS students. Students have to fill a form can be collected from our DSA office with income certificate and it is given to first 100 students based on there JEE mains rank and annual income. But, student should fill it in very first semester after that it is very difficult to get. Other than this we are glad that our alumni offers scholarship to students yearly on basis of their family income and CGPA. Moreover, every rank opener of branch has full fees concession for 4 years, and for every Branch topper the coming semester, there is no academic fee.

Campus Life

4

Yes, there are many extracurricular activities in our colleges. We have many societies for entertainment, personal development. Labs are of good quality every year new equipments keep coming. And even the workshops are very good to gain knowledge they are very updated and shows our college legacy. When talking about Gender ratio we have 1:4 Girl to boy ratio not so bad in an engineering college. In 2nd semester there is fresher parties for all the branches. And their is no political organization within the college our college remain at peace at any situation, felt very safe there no strikes nothing at all. Some of our top clubs/Societies Dramatics club, Music Club VOYAGERS(event organizing), IMAGES(event organizing), Les Amis, NCC, NSS, ASME, ASCE, CSS, SAE,SCC(Student councelling Cell), EIC(Entrepreneur and incubation cell).

Hostel Facilities

3

So, here comes the hostel and yes i opted for hostel. Honestly the hostel facilities are literally not good, even few months ago, there was police raid in our hostel mess for bad quality of food and fined Rs 10000. Actually facilities are not up to the mark and very low according to fee they take for hostel. Let me tell you about hostel fee structure-: Refundable -: 5000(one time) Hostel fee-: Rs 56600 Mess Advance-: Rs 2500 Maintenance -: Rs 9000 so it is around Rs 73,100 annually excluding mess fee(should be paid monthly) The maintenance charges they take, spend very little towards infrastructure, doors are broken. Hostels have single and triple rooms. First semester student have to stay mostly in triple rooms and then they will get single rooms. Also the college is short of rooms, that's why sometimes college have to accommodate 2 people in a single room. If you want to opt for PG it's a little less expensive than Hostel, like you will get a room with around Rs60000/-. But PG's are available little far from college, and if you ask me choose Hostel, Hostel life is great many things to learn

Alumni/Alumna

Yes there is a good alumni network as many alumni offers scholarship for students every year. Senior Students are very helpful in every branch, whatever freshers ask they really help and support them. Whether it is about placement scenario or internship in every situation seniors are there for juniors.

Admission

I am currently a 2nd year B.tech Student, in METALLURGY BRANCH. I got admission in 2018 through JOSAA (based on JEE mains)counselling in 2nd special round. The admission in PEC is only through JOSAA counselling. Firstly student have to fill JOSAA councselling and have to fill for various branches. Our college have total of 8 branches namely-: Aerospace, Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering,Electrical,Electronics and communication,Mechanical, Materials and Metallurgy,Industrial and Production. I had chosen Metallurgy branch, as i was having interest in this field and got admission in 2nd special round. At the time of reporting student has to bring some original documents like Aadhar card, 10 and 10+2 Marksheets, Birth Certificate,Migration Certificate,Character Certificate(issued from school). At the time of admission student has to pay one semester fee and Hostel fee(if opted), Chandigarh students are not allowed for Hostels. And after this process student get a fee receipt for further process at hostel.

Faculty

4

See one thing, in college Student have to study by own. The faculties using PPTs for teaching which is not a productive way. But faculties are very supportive if students wants to go in a research field, they can give various opportunity for the students. And one thing is don't ever mess with any Faculty. All faculties are well qualified and if student approaches they will definitely support the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
