Remarks

On my remarks college is perfect and good. Sometimes there are some delay on their processing but otherwise it is quite good. Now a days college look is totally changed and now Asutosh College is NAAC accredited 'A' grade college.

Course Curriculum Overview

It is under University of Calcutta and the structure of syllabus and exam pattern all are standard in nature. Also some Masters course are directed by Asutosh College autonomous body which are very popular among students. In Kolkata city it is one of the best college and also very renowned.

Placement Experience

Every year for graduate students TCS like companies are came for recruitment purpose and in my department (Industrial Fish & Fisheries) every final year student get a on job training in Fish harvesting & processing. In Industrial Fish & Fisheries department faculties are very much active for on campus job & guide the graduate students for higher study.

College Events

College Fest, Independence Day, Republic Day, Asutosh Mukherjee's Birthday, Swami Vivekananda Birthday, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birthday, Orientation Programme etc. Every year on Hilsa time, college union arrange a festival on Hilsa fish by various dishes.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Generally Fee structure is feasible. But some courses are self financed which are little expensive. On my time we had a fees book which was enrolled in near Bank. We went to the bank and paid the fees on the college bank account. No additional fees were there and there was proper breakdown of each fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, every West Bengal Govt. Scholarships are facilitated on this college especially for Girls there are 'Kanyasree' like scholarship and for boys there are 'Yuvasree' scholarship. Also the Govt of India scholarships are get through this college.

Campus Life

Campus life is full of enjoyable. Gendee ratio is near about 3:1 behalf of male. There are many chances to enrich your knowledge through extracurricular activities like sports, music, drama. Also NCC (National Cadet Corps) and NSS (National Social Scheme) like social activities scheme are there for students for experience and chance to get certificate on those courses for future.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are helpful indeed and very much supportive. We have a great connection with my Department's senior.

Admission

By 12th marks merit, I came to this college for admission and only at Asutosh College I get the subject Industrial Fish & Fisheries under University of Calcutta. This college is very much popular in West Bengal and campus culture is typically Bengali flavored that's why I choose this college.

Faculty

Faculty are basically recruited through West Bengal College Service Commission so the professors are well educated and qualified. Some professors are renowned in their own field. Professors are helpful enough and also the office staffs. Some research paper are also published through the college professor's which is very much prestigious for a college.

Likes

Campus is nice. There's greenery and all
SOME of the faculties are really good and those said teachers will actually look out for you and care
Mentors are appointed for each students who are responsible for their final year project, publications and LORs. If you are lucky, you'll get a good mentor.

Dislikes

Classrooms are less compared to the number of students. Students have to wander around the building after each classes to find seats. Classrooms are very dirty
There's literally NOTHING in the labs. Experiments take way long to prepare and perform because reagents and equipments are never available.
Hardly a 2 week summer break (because of MAKAUT). Students cannot even apply to good internships because no lab would take in external students in july or august.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Likes

The faculty members are knowledgeable and supportive. Most teachers explain concepts clearly and are approachable after class for doubts and guidance, which helps a lot during exams.
The college has a disciplined academic environment with regular classes and practical sessions. Laboratories are functional and help students understand concepts through hands-on learning.
The campus environment is calm and student-friendly. Various seminars, cultural programs, and academic activities help in overall personality development.

Dislikes

Industry exposure and internship guidance are minimal, which could be improved to make students more job-ready after graduation.
Infrastructure can be improved, especially classrooms and laboratory equipment. Some facilities feel outdated and require modernization.
Placement opportunities for BSc students are limited. The college focuses more on academics, so students need to prepare for higher studies or competitive exams on their own.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Likes

I like the campus , it is quite huge and green , the canteen has both cooked and packed food available, a seperate common room for students and many sports equipment available. Several functions are arranged along with international conferences held
All the faculty members are soft spoken , knowledgeable and friendly, it is easy to find help regarding anything.
Professors are strict about their syllabus and subjects , paying proper attention to the students. Practicals classes are conducted without fail.

Dislikes

There is nothing as such that I disliked because I am a first year student so I haven't been so much involved yet , I think that the washrooms should be cleaned properly to maintain the hygiene apart from thjs everything is fine.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Subjects offered in the college as well as the minor and idc subjects are well adhered to the curriculum and future aspects. The subject combinations are apt and futuristic. It moderately prepares one for real world situations.

How is it like to be a part of Presidency University!

Likes

I like the facilities available including air conditioner, lab equipments, projector screen for slideshow, canteen and overall the campus
I also appreciate the faculties because they have studied in highly reputed institutes and undoubtedly teach the best.
I like how the college focuses not only on academics but also on co curricular. Sports, cultural functions, workshops are held frequently. It keeps the students engaged in fruitful activities

Dislikes

I do not like the multidisciplinary courses that we have to study in the first year making it little burdened for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Reasons to not apply for NSHM Knowledge Campus

Likes

The admission process was very smooth, the administration board is very helpful.
The library is huge and the content of books is very good
College life and fests are good but not great

Dislikes

Placements are absolutely bogus. There were almost no good placements when i passed out part of it can be blamed on covid but mostly the college was largely at fault
Faculty was not upto the mark in regards to the hefty college fees we were charged
Even during covid online classes we were charged full fee which is again absolutely horrendous

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Likes

Examination Questions And Syllabus are good.
Faculties and Facilities are good enough.
College and evaluation system is good enough.

Dislikes

Timings of examinations per semester is reduced.
Examination centres are given far away from college.
Fees is little bit Higher for many poor students.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.

Love for my college

Likes

College library there are ample amount of books to br studied on.
College campus. There are no such ragging related activities have been encouraged in our college

I found mathematics an interesting discipline to take up for my future so i opted. The faculties are well educated and behaved. We get regular classes with doubt solving session. The professors also help us with our doubts and extra classes.

I have applied for Dinabandhu Andrews College and also New Alipore College for mathematics hons and I got selected for both the colleges and I started class in Dinabandhu Andrews College for few days but there the faculty used to talk in Bengali and the faculty members are not really good also the ambience so I applied in Asutosh College and I got selected too over there....so I shifted to Asutosh College, as I always wanted to persue this course from Asutosh College due to there faculty in this subject is really very good. Life at Asutosh Mookherjee college as a freshman

Besides getting selection in St Xavier's college and MUC college in Burdwan. I also got selected for Lady Braboune, South Calcutta girls college and many other. I didn't opt for any of there because maximum of my criteria were fulfilled in Asutosh Mookherjee college. I didn't make it to Xavier's College Kolkata due to some financial problem and in Jadavpur University, I couldn't clear the admission test. This is the best college under University of Calcutta from very old times, Specially the science department of asutosh college really excellent, The college came under TOP BEST 4 colleges of west Bengal.
