Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is very standard here. The courses are high level. It is based on both theoretical and practical basis. The classes are never delayed here. All the students are required to maintain a minimum attendance. All the topics are mostly covered in class itself.

Placement Experience

The placements are quite good. Right after completing UG course, it might be difficult for you to get a good job. You need to pursue higher degrees for a good job these days. Students pursuing PG from our college get a good number of placement opportunities every year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is very feasible. All the courses here are offered at a very affordable price. I was so shocked to see that the tuition fee per year for my course was just 2686 rupee. The examination fee and the hostel fee has to be paid separated.

Campus Life

All the labs are fully equipped. The lab equipment is also up-to-date. Sports are very much encouraged in the college. All the students are allowed to participate in all the competitions. There are different workshops conducted every year as well.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel facilities in our college are really good. There are enough rooms provided for accommodation. There are separate beds, study desks and cupboards provided. The rooms are maintained very clean. The mess food is also very good and nutritious.

Admission

After my intermediate, I decided to do M.Sc from a good college. I then applied for different colleges to pursue the course. My 10+2 grades were pretty good. Then i was called to appear for an entrance test conducted by the University of Bengal. The test was very basic and not very difficult for me. After comparing my intermediate scores and the entrance test scores, I was selected for admission.

Faculty

All of the faculty here is well experienced. Everybody is highly qualified. They teach you topics more on a practical basis than theoretical ones. The faculty is very friendly. They might be strict in the classrooms but it is indeed for the students.

Likes

Fixed timetable Classes, regular assessment and class test
The professors are very qualified and their teaching style is excellent.
A lot of books are available in the main library as well as in the department library

Course Curriculum Overview:

The syllabus and curriculum of Calcutta University is aligned with other entrance examination (eg.IIT JAM, JEST, TIFR, GATE etc.) Specially for the Physics BSc course. And the syllabus is updated Artificial intelligence bacis, Python Advance level is in syllabus, it's completed in college. Point to be Noted - The time given to prepare for the exam is sometimes ample but sometimes it is very less. So we have to prepare syllabus in time which is little bit frustrating.

Campus life: Hype vs Truth

Likes

The discipline is followed very strictly. Also you have access to library which is good, teachers are helpful and no ragging policy which is strictly followed and has a decent environment.
Thery conduct seminars which encourages students. Many faculty members are knowledgeable experienced in their respective subjects and helpful willing to solve doubts beyond the classroom also.
The college has decent infrastucture including classrooms, labs and library .

Dislikes

While the curriculum is decent ,it lacks sufficeint practical implementation.More hands on projects, real world application and industry exposure would improve learning significantly.
Campus life can sometimes fell limited in terms of active student interaction.Opportunites for clubs, networking and collaborative activities could be improved.
The college comes under St tHomas School so the campus is not great it is compact and has a canteen.

Placement Experience:

I heard it from seniors that before lockdown it was pretty decent but after lockdown the company visits are not that much comapred to before lockdown.Cognizent, Accenture, Mindtree, PQ360 which is a startup company of our senior alumni etc. visits.

The College Life in Burdwan

Likes

The campus is big and full of greenery with the vibrant feel of nature.
The students of the same batch are friendly and helpful.
The teacher's are friendly and helpful. They do provide helpful recommendations for the betterment of your future.

Dislikes

The seniors are overly harsh when it comes to 1st year.
The infrastructure could be worked on. The college lacks renovation.
The hostel does require everyday cleaning and renovation as well as the campus.

Placement Experience:

I don't know much about this but I guess from the sixth semester the students are eligible for campus placements. This year a student from AEIE got a package of 11.2 lacs per annum and the average is around 4 lacs per annum.

The Framework is said to be great, with well equipped classroom and simply get to the libraries.
The offices at this college are great. In any case, these changes depending on the quality of the companies going by the college and the victory of the internship changes by the internship.
Understudies appreciate the campus life and flexibility to associate with others understudies. However, there are few impediments such as the division of floors between senior and junior. College life is nice and could be an inviting place for others

Dislikes

The college doesn't have lodging, and understudies must organize their settlement locally.
The college doesn't have a big field to play like any other big college

Placement Experience:

In Syamaprasad College placements and internships are given to the final year students. And the companies that offer placements are Accenture, Deloitte, KPMG, etc. The highest package goes up to 20-24 lakhs and the average package goes to 6-8 lakhs. 70-80% of students get their placement in my college. At that time I planned to get the degree and apply to a multinational company with a high salary package with company facilities.

St Joseph's college a Decent one

As it was a period of lockdown in 2020 I applied in colleges like Siliguri college of commerce , Salesian college siliguri, Goenka college kolkata and St joseph's college darjeeling which was my college. Unfortunately I could not make it to Goenka College of commerce Kolkata , But I did made it to salesian College Siliguri and Siliguri College of Commerce but Salesian college fees was way too high and Siliguri College of Commerce had very negative reviews as nothing was good there. Then I researched about St Joseph's College Darjeeling it had the best reputation in entire North Bengal and the fees was quite affordable Faculties were good and Infrastructure was also fine so I choose this college . I would have gone to other colleges if lockdown was not there....Read More

My college life

I apply for other colleges also as I didn't get much facilities there like comprehensive studying library, canteens facilities, etc. I don't get rejection from the other colleges that I have applied the reasons behind not choosing those is the facilities that I didn't found . The admission process was online; we needed to fill out our details through portals, and there was a specific verification date when we called regarding the verification of our application. After that, if everything was okay, then our admission was confirmed. Then, after a few months, standalone admission was introduced in my college, which helped many students get their pending admission. The eligibility for this exam was 12 pass with a minimum 50 Percent from any of the West Bengal board. Almost all the exams liked by students because of its teaching styles....Read More
