Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum The course focuses on all facets of communication design. From day 1 of the course, we are introduced to the professional design world learning and creating experiences with industry experts. The course taught us the fundamentals of writing, media advertising and human rights as well. It covered the disciplines of sciences and social sciences. We were also taught the foreign language which we chose among the list of languages. Every semester we have practical where we were taught about the practical implication of media and communication. The college followed a Choice Bases Credit System (CBCS). This enabled us to select the electives as per our choice depending on the credits each subject offered. Some of the electives available to us include public relations and media, design and visual culture, graphic production, event management and elements of film video production. All these gave us the insights of the industry where we can probably make our career.

Placement The students? were placed at some top design companies like Open Space Design Studio, HCP Design and INI Design Studio. Majority of my seniors were placed with them. Many of them even opted for career in Film and Media. They worked with HT Media House, Times of India, The Mint and The Indian Express. This course enabled us to pursue career in diverse fields; Ranging from media to communication to advertising to human rights. I worked as an intern for two months with Human Rights Commission on their women centered projects. I also worked with visual arts studio Viscom for a month due to the recommendation of my professor.

College Events

5

The KCLAS Studios are built where our practical and workshops take place. We do our course practical in the studio. The clubs are divided into three main domains in the college- literary Club, Fine Arts Club, Environment and sustainability club. These clubs are run by students which provide us the platform to showcase our talent. They provide us the exposure, experience and hand on experience required for real world challenges. There are annual events that are celebrated in my college. Some of them include World Wildlife Day (3 March), World Poetry Day (21 March), MSME Day (27 June), International Literacy Day (8 September) and India Study Visits (November/April).

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure After my admission, I signed KCLAS code of conduct and anti-ragging affidavit. The original documents were submitted with the college. The annual fee was INR 1.3 Lakhs. This included the tuition fees, sports and amenities fee, professional development fee, examination fee and miscellaneous fee. All the fees were paid online through net banking.

Campus life The collage is inside a magnificent campus of 150 acres. There is a 23 acre of well-developed play field devoted to sports in the college. Football, Hockey, Cricket, Basketball, Volley Ball, Ball badminton, Kabaddi, Tennis are some of the sports played on this field. There is an air conditioned auditorium which has the capacity to accommodate 1800 students and a stage designed for events. There is a chess academy called Dr. N. Mahalingam Chess Academy where chess camps, practice sessions and tournaments are held. The campus has a bank for our convenience which is opened from Monday to Saturday. The ATM is opened on all the days of the week as well as on weekend. The library has 15000+ journals, 3135000+ books, 40 resources, 16 databases through Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Center of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of India. In addition, there are two study centers set up in the campus known as Mahatma Gandhi Study Center And Vivekananda Study Center that aims at creating unlighted youth, empowering them and channeling their energy towards the betterment of the society.

Admission

Admission After passing 12th grade in humanities, I decided to pursue career in visual arts. So I checked online various courses offered by different universities. Meanwhile I came through this university and looking at its course structure, I decided to pursue B.Sc. in visual communication from here. The minimum requirement was 50% marks in 12th grade from a recognized board. I filled the application form online. The next step was the document verification where I submitted 10th and 12th mark sheet, 12th migration certificate, transfer certificate, community certificate and aadhar card copy. All were verified to avoid any discrepancy while taking admission. Then the candidate is required to report on pre-selected date to the campus and appear for selection process. I appeared for this process that included creativity test, comprehensive knowledge test and critical thinking test followed by personal interview. This whole procedure took a day time. After the successful verification of the documents, my name appeared in the first list issued by the college. Finally I paid the fees that confirmed my admission.

Faculty All the faculty members were well qualified having diverse background. All of them were Assistant Professors in Viscom. They mentored us on our projects and cleared all the doubts that came midway. They were very kind and helpful. They shared their experiences with us to keep us motivated and never lose hope.

Placement Experience:

Campus placement are limited in the college. A few companies visit during the final year, and students usually becomes eligible fromo the last semester. The packages offered are generally modest, mostly for entry-level roles. Only a small percentage of students get placed thorugh campus drives, while many prefer to apply off-campus for better opportunities. The college provides basic placement support such as info about job openings and guidance, but students need to build their own skills and prepare independently. After completing the degree, students prefer to pursue higher studied, professional courses, or entry-level IT jobs.

Focusing on student's attendence rather than focusing on students concepts. College is not focusing in development of students only paperwork is done. No conceptul teaching nor practical. By doing this stuff we can get a btech degree but not the knowledge a btech student should have.
