Remarks

I heard that many shipping companies come for placement. Another important aspect is that they maintain disciplines throughout the training duration. Admission procedure was quite simple. I attended my online exam in delhi . After 2 weeks they called for medical and interview to the campus in Chennai. One specific thing about this course is that , medical requirements should be read clearly on dg shipping website . Being a private college they sometimes takes no notice of medical standards , and students have to suffer after completing the course.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

* I wanted to join merchant Navy and this college offer good placement to its students. Although my observation was somewhat wrong because the exact placement offered is very low and very few companies offer job to marine engineering Students. * Faculty: student ratio is of 1:40 * You will find few Qualified teacher in the campus for core subjects . Teaching method is through projector and most of the content is covered by class learning but mismanagement of administration causes chaos in the proceedings. * Examination are conducted twice in the semester and it's easy to clear internal examination. Although you have to put some effort for clearing the semester examination.

Placement Experience

2

In amet University students are eligible for placement from second semester itself. But the sad part is that very few companies come for placement. During my course of 4 years only two companies come for recruitment ( Maersk line and chevron shipping). I would say that the Maersk is the only mass recruiter in campus and the palace percentage is below 30 % . * I have been recruited by Maersk line and looking forward for my Training with them.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee Structure include accommodation and Tuition fees. Fees per annum is about ?3.3 lacs per annum and you have to pay it in three installments . Fees will not be raised for the 4 year program. * I don't think college provide any scholarships to male students . There is fee relaxation for girls students enrolling in marine engineering. * Due to uncertainty in the shipping industry , campus placement is about 30 % of total batch strength. My batch strength was 200.

Campus Life

2

College organise Marine Traffic each year in the month of March. . * Library has been renovated after I completed my 4th semester. Before that library was not able to withstand the burden of the students. Library is well maintained but feel like there are not sufficient number of Books as per the strength of the course. * Class Room lacks proper ventilation in few old construction . Some of the classes are air conditioned but again due to no proper maintenance does not provide sustainable learning environment. No class have installed projector and class monitor has to carry the projector whenever faculty demands for it. * College offers facilities for various sports and swimming . I would say swimming pool and gym is well maintained on all grounds. AMET has its Band group. It's good learning time for students to be part of it while staying in university. * NSS (National Service scheme) is club in amet .It offers students to work as social worker and develop there personality.

Hostel Facilities

1

Administration provide with mattress and bunk type bed. There are 4 students in single room . The lower bunk include table fan . The size of cupboard provided is not appropriate. No table lamp provided for study purpose. Only 2 table in a room for 4 person. Room is total chaos because hostel doesn't provide with laundry facility . Rooms are not suitable to stay . * Meal quality is fine and minimum hygiene is maintained. Menu consist of both north and south Indian food . I observed that the quantity served is not upto the mark and mess incharge tends to cut the quota of food provided. Mess are not upto the mark as again the burden of strength causes chaos in the mess due to restriction of time.

Interview Experience

3

Yes , there was interview conducted for the selection but I don't think that have any significance to the merit list . My observation says that it was just to make sure that the individual is able to communicate in English language. I don't prepare anything specific, just learned about Shipping industry and about my job profile from internet. One important aspect is that according to DG Shipping minimum percentage required to enroll for MARINE ENGINEERING is 60% in ( physics, chemistry and math).

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.
