Remarks
The management was very co-operating and there to fulfill the needs of the students. The only bad thing is that they have less placements for Life Sciences though there were placements for B.Tech Biotechnology, but very less for Master's degree students it is overall a good institution to go to. I would prefer LPU for graduation studies. A good place to enjoy first 3 years of college life. I enjoyed a lot during my stay at LPU.
Entrance Preview
Since I was not a resident of Punjab and secured more than 75% in my graduation, I got direct admission for the course i wanted to opt. Even I got 75% scholarship.
Course Curriculum Overview
The syllabus was quite vast and covers all aspects of Industrial Microbiology. It even has modules for Clinical and Basic Microbiology i was happy to go for this course as it helped me a lot to enter into the field i wanted to work in. There was semester system with internal exams and one of the most important thing was we were asked to make a project report for every subject in each semester. This report was purely research based and increased our literature survey abilities.
Internships Opportunities
There is no facility of internship yet, as Life Science department is not so old. Though the professors will guide you to conduct any project on your own using the college lab facilities. For internships, we had to go out to other labs, research institutes and companies, as it was a part of credit in our course.
Placement Experience
There is a placement department, which is a paid service, when i was studying there in LPU. I am not sure of it now. It helps the students not only to apply for any company interview, but also prepare them for conducting face-to-face interviews, technical rounds and GD.For Master's placement services, were not so active in the past. But yes there are too many placements in B.tech and MBA courses.
College Events
All kinds of events, fests or fashion shows or celebrity showing up for movie promotion. You name it and its there in LPU. I don't understand what is there with the management but they have always kept the environment very lively and fun loving for the students apart from strict academic schedules.
Fee Structure And Facilities
LPU is an expensive institution if you are not on scholarship. Course fees and accommodation can cost you around 1- 1.5 lpa for Master's and 2-3 lpa for B.Tech degree. I stayed in the hostel for first two semesters and my hostel fees was around 80,000 indian rupees which was a four seater room, all meals, laundry. My course fees after applying scholarship was approx 25,000 INR, per semester, which was very affordable according to my parents.
Fees and Financial Aid
The university itself provides scholarship for merit students dor those scoring above 75%, they are sure to get one and the percentage increase as your marks increases its even full scholarship for students scoring more that 95% so a good option for opting LPU for graduate studies.
Campus Life
Gender ratio it was almost equal i guess, because it was never a instance that there were more boys than girls but yes i can't comment on Engineering batches extracurricular activities this is something which happens a lot in LPU and its a reflection of culture of Punjab. I really enjoyed watching all folk dances and cultures of all the states of India, because LPU is like a miniature India in itself no racism seen there, as there are not only students from all states of India but students from other countries as well.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility very good and its like we are choosing a house in Harry potter movies. Each hostel is different in rooms design, rules, food and ambiance. Mine I felt was very good with food and rules though throughout girls hostel, food and cleanliness was at top priority. There was quality check of fresh vegetables every day. Hostel rates were too high for a student belonging to middle class. Instead one could stay at a PG or a room near Phagwara. That would be quite reasonable.
Alumni/Alumna
I am not much active on the alumni network but i am sure if there will me any meeting, i will definitely get an invitation because LPU is very strong in communicating and tracking down their students talking of senior students, they are quite helpful too i am myself a senior now and i helped many of my juniors to get their jobs or internships.
Exam Structure
Exams were very frequent and since I was in Master's Labs were a daily routine job. Internals make the whole semester squeeze into weeks how time passes, we couldn't even imagine. The scoring system is a usual CGPA based [9 pointer] . Lab exams were easy to conduct as we were so thorough with them that none of the student could qualify that. Talking of the main exams, the question papers were made of both hard and average level questions. They were not straight forward ones, I must say.
Faculty
They all were PhD's and some new recruits were qualified lecturers [GATE or NET or university toppers]. We had no lecture in our course of 1.5 yrs that any lecture went vague. The professors were always encouraging and made the students perform their own small projects in the labs.
