IISERs are the only institutes in India which are purely research focused, it doesn't offer any technical course it offers only basic science course and my interest from starting lies in research area that's why I choose IISER Mohali.
The course structure is designed in such a way that you have basic knowledge of every subject whether it is physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, environment, social science, programming, electronics etc. Yoh have to study all these subjects during your first and second year and from third year onward you can select your major subject where particularly you have to study one subject which you like and want to study in future.
If you are looking for direct placements from the college then IISERs are the bad choice for you because it doesn't offer direct placements to students and that's why there is no placement cell in the college but there is an Ecell in the college.
There are a lots of extra curricular activities and events organized by the societies, a decent clean campus with greenery being the prominent source of beauty of the IISER Mohali. A true habitat for birds and animals and almost 74 species of birds have been accounted. Chandigarh, the Capital of Partying is a 10 min walk away. So you have great outside life.
Yes, hostels are compulsory for every student. All Hostels are separated into two wings - Boys and Girls. No such checking of rooms, but if somebody complains(rare.) - Wardens will come. No such Hostel in time, you can roam around all night if you like.
From sem 3 will be eligible for placements. Hcl, Wipro, Genpact, Accenture, etc are the companies and will give great offers. The highest package is 2.50 lac per annum and the average is 1.50 lac per annum. The minimum percentage to be selected for placements is 65%. After my degree, my plan is to MBA.
Students become eligible for placements from the last semester. A lot of companies like Microsoft, Google, Nestle and a lot of other companies have visited the campus for placements. High packages were offered to deserving candidates. The highest package offered was 45 lakhs per annum by Microsoft to a BTech student. The placement rate is high with above 90% of a student getting placed. I am planning to work in the food industry and gain experience working in the food business.
On a serious note, if you choose this course, you cannot expect employment opportunities after graduation. You have to do a master's and then you can think of a lectureship or a laboratory assistant. For higher studies, you can pursue a PhD and go in the research field. But the course is not as easy as it seems, the path is very struggling and often you face failure. After the recent NMC update, the non-medical teaching staffs are limited which makes the pursuing of this course very questionable. but there are alternative course and job opportunities after graduation in other life sciences subjects. Rest, the college doesn't provide any internship in this course. You are entirely on your own risk and decisions when you enrol for this course.
I chose this college because the college fees is less as compared to other colleges near to my town. I took admission in Bathinda because of my relatives. The college has good reviews and reputation in the city.
The placements for our senior batch is quite impressive, almost around all students were placed or well settled. The salary depends on the qualification that person had. The placement cell also give trainings to the students.
postive remark is that the students who want to do study only has a good option in this college because this college has no distractions things and there is also NCC in our college whose certificates helps the students in competitive exams
All is good in the college and no bad remarks is pending for Satyam Institute of Engineering and Technology
