I wanted to study aerospace engineering and had no other options available. Aerospace engineering is an interdisciplinary course where one can learn about all the other engineering streams and it provides a good interlink between theory and application.
IIEST is the worst institute when it comes to Aerospace, they don't even have a proper wind tunnel, labs dont have required equipments , no industrial ar skill development courses are provided, the faculties are the worst one can find in any college, all of them are from structural or mechanical background and they have zero knowledge in this field. They dont have proper industrial or academic connections and thats why no core aerospace company comes to our campus.
Research Internship- IISC Bangalore 12000 per month for two months. I applied for the internship through JNCASR summer research fellowship programme.
Placement opportunity in core companies is zero. Students get placed mainly in IT companies and the median package is very low, around 3 to 4 lpa. The placement cell is not very active and has failed to bring any core aero company like Boeing or Airbus.
The cultural and technical events are good and sees participants from different colleges in and around kolkata. The Management event started a few years back and is becoming bigger every year. The events are the only thing good about this institute.
The facilities provided by the college is limited and not up to the mark. The Library doesn't have required books , the hostels are awful. The rooms are dirty and the washrooms are worse than slums. Sports facilities are also limited.
Hostels are easily available and the rent is not very high, but the mess bills are high and varies between 3000- 5000 per month. The rooms are small and 4 students need to share them. The rooms are not well maintained and not enough storage space is provided to the students to keep their personal belongings. The washrooms are very bad and dirty. Regular cleaning is not done. Moreover the food in the mess is very bad and so is the behaviour of the mess staffs.
I have chosen my course as per my own interest. The ratio of faculty and students in my course is 1:4. All faculties members of my course are well educated and all having a good experience of teaching. The examinations of my university always completed at right time and if you are attending regular classes and follow the classes then there are no difficulties to pass the exams.
After completing the third year, a student is eligible for campus placements. Various companies visit to offer jobs to our college students like Capgemini, TCS, Tata Consultancy, etc. Most students with an SGPA of more than 7.5 out of 10 get the jobs. The highest package offered is 23 lakhs per annum and the lowest is 2.5 lakhs per annum. Around 90 percent of students got a job after completing their degree from this college. I want to opt for further study in the field of Computer Science.
Robotics is a good career option. We learn many things about robotics. This college is under Makaut University and this year makaut started a new BTech robotics course. I also got a tfws seat in robotics engineering. In this college faculty members are really helpful. They help when any student faces any problem. For faculty, I give 10/10. The teachers are really educated. I am a first-year student so I don't know all the teachers' qualifications. The faculty guides all students. They give assignments on time. They conduct slot test exams from time to time. Then exam of the slot test is moderate.
I don't know about it still now. During the admission, they told us about placement after we are eligible for that & that's what I know still now. From semester 4-5 students become eligible for campus placement.
1. From 7th semester we are eligible. 2. Only Jio once came, no agriculture related company till now visited. As we are the 1st batch and we are now in 6th semester. 3&4. Till now here is no placement opportunities for agriculture department, so I am unable to tell it. But our faculties are in involved for arranging interviews from now , they are consulting with so many companies agriculture related. I hope we will get placement when we will be eligible. 5. My plan to do MSc. After getting the degree.
Students become eligible from the 5th sem for campusing. Being a final year student of 2020 so due to this pandemic many companies fail to come for campusing. So it's hard to say much about campusing..but as per the previous year if you are a good student then you will definitely get a job. And if you want to pursue a degree course in civil engineering then also you can join this college.
