Remarks
I went for Jadavpur University because of its high rank, it's exposure to different things, the faculty and also because it doesn't have strict regulations. JU gives one a wide range of exposure on many grounds, actively takes part in inter college fests and promotes extra curricular actives. Professors share a good and healthy relationship with their students and no form of bullying is promoted.
Course Curriculum Overview
I personally feel that the management should go for changes in the course curriculum. There are a few professors who fail to complete the most important portions of the syllabus. For eg- we haven't been taught Parsons in our 1st year and haven't been taught Foucault properly. That's a very unfortunate thing because these are are the crux of sociology and are v v important topics. Our professors usually have a very casual approach towards our curriculam and there's no system of extra classes at all. There are students who literally strive to struggle to get good marks but fail to do so, professors never show us our internal papers or tell us where are we going wrong so we really don't have any idea of where we lost marks and what exactly is expected from us by the teachers.
Internships Opportunities
I interned in IIT Kharagpur. However it wasn't provided to me from college. There was no stipend. It was a research based work.
Placement Experience
I am not aware of any company visiting our college for recruitment in the department of Sociology, ju.
College Events
Campus Life has been a ride of memories - our university takes part in a lot of activities, sports and indulges in all forms of creative art. Sanskriti and Ibtida are the two most eye catching yearly occassions and attracts huge crowds. 1-2 thousand people are present in these events. Participation is good too, participants from all over the city and even pass outs are allowed to take part.
Campus Life
Infrastructure of our college is mediocre. We have a departmental as well as main library. I don't know much about the labs because I don't have much idea about science and engineering students. For the arts students, administration is poor.
