Remarks
I chose Jadavpur University because it is considered to be the best for my subject, International Relations in eastern India. It is also the oldest IR department in the country. Other than that, the campus is 20 minutes away from my house. So travelling is also easy.
Course Curriculum Overview
Arts subjects generally do not have "industrial exposure". The faculty is very good, with access to the best library and related facilities. The course syllabus has been recently updated. Though I studied under the old syllabus, the new one is quite updated.
Placement Experience
As I have mentioned earlier, arts courses in India are not exactly employable in the direct sense. However in the past few years, there has been some placements done in the Arts Faculty by content writing companies, smaller news papers and news channels for editorial staff or MNCs requiring candidates for survey and statistical level analytical work. In the engineering faculty, placement is much higher with IT companies pouring in. However for stable government jobs, across faculties, we don't expect anyone to come. As all government jobs require some clearing of specific exams like GATE or UPSC etc.
College Events
We have an annual fest called Sanskriti every year. Each of the three faculties organise their own separate fests, meaning we have three fests every year. Other than that, there are clubs for Debate, Drama, Mountaineering
