Remarks

The college management should focus less in making obsolete rules and crafting innovative ways to levy fines and make more money. They should focus more on engineering. The world's moving at lightening speeds and mepco is still in the stone age.

Entrance Preview

Got in through Tamil nadu board examinations. Cut off score ( Average of maths, physics and chemistry) was 194/200. I choose this college because it was amongst the reputed institutions in my locality.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

There was no focus on research for the undergraduate course. The curriculum was decided by the university and was mostly outdated. Highly theoretical with very little importance to practical stuff. The semester exams were mostly a test memory and not skills. Not much importance was given to research or projects.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are very less. In the year of 2014, we only had three companies offering internships and the average stipend was 10K.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placement is average when compared with top universities but is better than many other colleges in the locality. Salary package offered by companies that have visited this college range from 2lpa - 6.5lpa . There are also chances for pooled placements (students from same locality but different colleges) through which samsung, aricent hired.

College Events

0.5

There were not many events and the college does not give much importance to these events. Participation is dismal . The college does not provide a supportive environment for any events to be held. One days symposiums are held , with almost no budget and absurd rules and organizers are never encouraged, very little is achieved through these events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is more on the expensive side. Tuition alone comes to around 60k an year. In addition the college levies expensive fees for labs and other facilities. Also everyone have to buy all course books compulsorily and a hefty 10k fee is usually levied for these books.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are no great scholarships offered by the college. It is easy to avail loans from any bank. The college offers scholarships to top performers but the extent is not great.

Campus Life

3

Campus life sucked - there is no other word for it. You aren't supposed to interact with the opposite gender. The college rules make it impossible for you to participate in competitions events .

Alumni/Alumna

The college is desperately trying to revive and have a strong alumni network. They have even launched a social network for the college. But after 4 years of trauma , most of the students don't want anything to do with this college.

Exam Structure

There were three internals and one final examination for each semester. The examination schedule laid out by the university was hectic mostly. The labs were scheduled by the college and the schedule was a bit relaxing. The college also has the practice of conduction re-tests and pre-internals which wasn't of much use really.

Admission

For the year of 2014, Admissions were through Tamil nadu general counselling. Forms were available throughout the state. Now the college has become autonomous , the procedure might be different.

Faculty

3.5

Most if the faculty are competent and very knowledgeable but are mostly restricted by the curriculum and restrictions laid out by the university. All senior staff hold doctoral degrees. Some of the new staff are not much older than the under grads they are supposed to teach and they don't handle courses well.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements are generally decent, with students becoming eligible from the final year. Several companies visit for recruitment, offering roles in technical and non-technical fields. Packages vary by company, and placement opportunities depend on skills and performance. Many students secure jobs, while others pursue higher studies or competitive exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
