Entrance Preview

Since I just passed out from school so I got in by direct admission. I opted for it as the faculty and the laboratory is among the best in Kolkata.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure is good. There are a variety of courses that people can take up. After you pass out you will be capable enough for doing research on it. The courses are a bit tough But if you work hard you can get good marks. The attendance is a factor that is to be kept in mind.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college provides internship, stipend as it is a government college. You will have to just consult our help desk they will give you the necessary things that are to be done.

Placement Experience

3.5

It is a college mostly for doing B.sc but it prepares you well enough to get admission in any higher college. Some of our college students are studing in universities like Jadavpur University, some have even taken up engineering or medical colleges. Its just the effort must be yours to achieve the goals that you keep in mind.

College Events

4.5

We mostly do have celebration in all the events that com. We have our own celebration hall where all the function are held. Functions like freshers were held to welcome us. There are also functions like Independence day, Republic day which we enjoy the performances by out Seniors juniors and class mates.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It has a general fees structure by the government. The fees structure is such that even the middle class families can afford. Fees structures are quite high in subs which includes practicals, one of them is the Bsc hons in comp which is about Rs.22000 while a few even come to about Rs.3000-6000.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a few scholarship s that are available but are hard to get by normal students. Only brilliant students are given those.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio varies from courses but over all if we consider its 1:1. There is a bit of politics in our college but not to that extent as the other people say about our college. It has an anti raging committee which helps the students. It does not discriminate on race ethinicity, religion, sex orientation or economic status.

Exam Structure

It follows the exams and syllabus of Calcutta University. But we do have a mid term exam in the period between November December. The exams are quite tough are hard to pass. The mid term exam help us get a knowledge of where we are according to the syllabus. For the University exams the seats are given in other colleges thus there the strictness is always available.

Admission

I took direct admission. The form fill up was done online. About June- July. The administration is quite tough as only about a 100 people were taken admission according to the merit list. The session started in August. And has been going on quite well.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is very good, friendly, helpful. They help us in our need. The professors are well educated many have done PhD in their subjects. They are given only 45 minutes to discuss their topic and they use their time to very good use by teaching us the things we need.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
