Remarks

Since my college is 100 years old, the alum base of my college is really strong. Many famous alums in all fields are there to guide you. The locations an added benefit. The infra is a bit old but the situation is changing and labs are being updated. The college is very liberal and updated with the courses. This year we had a tie-up with the Unacademy for 1 semester for the python course. The rankings are good, the placement stats are really awesome, better than most of the NIT's. Admission is done through Jee MAINS rank, NRI Quota, Defense quota, and Kashmir Quota and is carried normally every year around July August. The reason I chose this over other NIT was the huge alum base, scholarships, location, and liberal policy.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose civil engineering because I want to crack IES and my rank was a bit low to go for ECE or Electrical. Also, my father is in the construction business which is one of the factors. The student to teacher ratio in my branch is 120:1 with 50 percent students from the Hs quota. All the faculty are highly qualified from reputed institutes including IIT and foreign universities. The term exams have almost 50 percent weightage and the questions are easy to answer if you have read the entire semester. The grading policy is good, we have relative grading. Overall, I like the curriculum. It has 160 credits plus some extra if u want to do specialization. You can also do specialization in different branches, not necessarily in your same branch. So the courses are really flexible

Internships Opportunities

4

The college has a dedicated 7th semester for Internships. Top recruiters from all the sectors come to campus. The majority of the students get their PPO there only. Recruiters include Microsoft, JP Morgan, Adobe, American Express, Amazon, l &T, and many other MNCs and local companies give internship opportunities with a stipend as high as 1.5 Lakh. The students not interested in internships also have the option of working on a project, so no one is compelled to do the internship. The college tries very hard every year to bring bigger companies and offers. Overall the internship scenario is quite good

Placement Experience

4.5

The placement is the best thing about my college. The official stats are almost 87 %. The average package is around 7-8 lakhs. Placement in non-core companies goes up to 50 Lakh. Almost all the reputed companies hire people from here so from a placement point of view the college is very good. Also, there are many people who pursue higher studies abroad and our college has contacts with UCLA. Microsoft, Amazon, L&T, Daltron, Adobe, American Express, JP Morgan are some of the top recruiters. There is a compulsory internship dedicated semester and most of the students get their PPOs there only. ALMOST 600 offers are made yearly and the students seeking job get placed easily.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is almost 80 to 90 Thousand per semester. If you want hostel accommodation u have to pay an extra fee of 60k every year. there is a hike of 10 percent every year. Talking about the scholarship, the college has a huge alum has and the college has been successful in pulling off funds for the deserving students. The SC and St students get a full fee waiver, toppers from each branch are also provided with full/half fee waivers. The EWS category also gets various scenes and scholarships from the alums.

Campus Life

5

To describe life at the campus in one word, "awesome". You have to be here to fill the Chandigarh Vibe. Everything so green and clean plus ease of access to everything. We have an annual fest called PECFEST, it has a huge star lineup. Topmost singers, actors, comedians, motivational speakers, CEOs, and startup founders. That fest is really very lit and you can google it to see how lit it is. Apart from this, most of the club and tech societies have their own events and they are really fun. Sport is very actively perused here and the teams have won a lot of tournaments. we even have a swimming pool and squash court. In hostels too we have snooker, TT, foosball, carrom, and chess. The library is digital and has a decent collection. The space is ample but I guess we need more books apart from the courses. Talking about the club, cells, and tech societies, all of them are run by students with supervision from DSA, there are regular competitions and a lot of fun.

Hostel Facilities

3

We usually get single accommodation except for the 1st semester., some of the rooms are good, some of the old. New construction is underway but we need change when it comes to hostel especially the Aravali hostel. The mess food is quite decent, the breakfast becomes a bit monotonous but the mess is student-run by t so u can force them to serve better. The quality is good though. You have to apply for a hostel while submitting your admission form and only OS quota students get the hostel.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
