Remarks

My College is located in a very pretty location also it is near to my college. It is known as a brand and placements are pretty good. My teachers recommended me and also I searched online about it. Moreover it is a government college and all scholarship related schemes are easily available.

Course Curriculum Overview

Everything is very good. All the teachers are PhD holders and the structure of course is very well made. The examinations, quizzes and evaluation is held continuosly. We have two semester system each year and mid term and end term exam are held every semester.

Internships Opportunities

I interned at IIT Bombay by getting selected through the process. My stipend was 10,000 per month.

Placement Experience

Placement is good. Students can sit for both core and non core companies. For metallurgy not many core companies visit but they can always bag packages for Jon core companies like JP Morgan, Bain and Co. O9 solutions, etc. The median package is 5-6 lakh. Highest this time till now is 12 lakh. I will be taking the job I received in consulting sector.

College Events

PEC has the best of clubs. There are many like PEB for bhangra, DRAMS, Music club, Art and photography club. For all these there is a student activity centre also where students can spend time and rehearse. Pec market is the most sought place for entertainment. Our college also has CCD and Annual fest PECFEST is north India's biggest techno cultural fest. We have had celebrities like guru randhava and Farhan akhtar. Library provides a serene atmosphere for studying with all the books available for issue too.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have received one department scholarship of INR 40k and one alumni scholarship of INR 50k in my second and third year respectively.

Campus Life

Our college has all the infrastructure needed. Every kind of sports facility is there including gym. Whole campus is WiFi enabled and our college has all the labs and machines needed for every stream. Research facilities are pretty good too.

PEC - History and optimism

Likes

The campus is over 100 years old and has strong alumini network.
Placements are good as per my rank in JEE
Peer group is good and there are diversed people all around

Dislikes

Infrastructure is really old; but then again legacy comes at a cost.
Campus is smaller as compared to NITs and IITs ; so is the funding
Its still not an institute of national importance. Has no nation wide recognition

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Syllabus is good, it is very versatile and updated according to the industry standards
The University also has a good events and also a good night life
The infrastructure is very modern with unique outlets to eat in

Dislikes

There is a uniform system which is very bad according to university
Very strict rules regarding in and out of the University
The outlets in university are quite expensive

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read

Likes

Good facilities, really teaches student and give individual attention in class too
Good infrastructure , as it was just built in 2021, the infrastructure is top notch and no complaints about it.
Papers are being checked anonymously, one’s paper can be checked by any teacher in any campus, so no chance of partiality

Dislikes

80% strict attendance criteria other they would not allow to sit in exam
Passing criteria is 40% and grading system is also bery difficult, two D grade is 1 F and more than 2F could lead to year repeat year, not even semster
Alot of assigments, really hectic at times

Placement Experience:

We have avergae package of 12 lpa and 57lpa highest, i am not aware of how mqny placed. As such i have plan to get placed but if things didnt go out as planed then mba or mtech maybe. Our campus just opened recently so there is no much information but our placements are central that means, companies visting mumbai have to visit us too, and u can refer mumbai campus placement for our campus because its counted on central level and not varries campus to campus

Remarks:

There are very limited art college in india and GCA Chandigarh is 1 of them. I opted for printmaking because I wanted to explore different mediums of expression. The college is well equipped with faculty experienced in their own particular mediums aswell as exploring new mediums. You will get the freedom to build you creativity.

I chose this college over other colleges because of the placements. No matter how outdated their curriculum is but this college gives good placements. At my rank this was the best college which was giving an average of package of 12LPA from Production and Industrial Engg. I also wanted to live in a good city so I chose this college. If we talk about the admission process of this college, you have to first appear in JEE Mains. Then you have to apply in JOSAA Counselling. There are 6 rounds in JOSAA in which seat is alloted to the students who have got better ranks. Imo if you are a general category student then you have to score above 96 percentile to get in Production of PEC. If you dont get any seat in JOSAA then there is CSAB also. I was getting electrical engineering at NIT surat and CSE cyber security at NIT patna I choose PEC VLSI as I was interested in Electronics and PEC was a better college than the other two options.I got rejected from DTU EE as I didnt have the required rank to get there as a general male other state applicant.
