Remarks

Reputed college with good placements opportunities and near from home. It is one of the top ranked University in the state and is definitely best one from where to pursue engineering. Admission process is completely online with only one exception of document verification which has to be done in person in one of the allotted universities of th city( ideally punjab University).

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Basically i had no liking of predefined preference over this course. This was the best course i could get in this college based on my rank so all i did was that i chose this college and the rest, college did itself. Faculty to student ratio is nice maybe 1:10. Generally Professors have a phd in their respective subjects. There are 2 exams, mid term which is conducted after 2-3 months of start of semester and end term which conducted at the end of semester.

Placement Experience

4

Students have to go for internship in their 6th semester, which is completed in the company itself and grades for this semester is given on basis of the performance in the internship. Highest package offered to 2017-18 batch was 37lpa and average package was 10.2lpa. Nearly 100% of students gets placed who are wanting and rest many students go for further studies. I want to join cbi after completing this degree.

College Events

Life at campus is awesome. Firstly there is no ragging which is an old tradition of engineering colleges. Seniors are very friendly and helpful. We have an annual fest known as pecfest which is quite popular in the city and actors/singers like Farhan Akhtar, Sukhwinder Singh were part of previous fests. Sports meet are conducted between various nits and iits also. One can just visit pec.edu.in and get all the details of various events from there.

Campus Life

4.5

Infrastructure is pretty good, with all the facilities mentioned above including tennis court, Cricket ground, football ground, vollyball court etc. Wifi works all over the campus except near sports grounds. Library has one digital library and one basic including all the courses books and many other books which might catch interest of students. Labs have proper equipment in adequate running condition.

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read

There are very limited art college in india and GCA Chandigarh is 1 of them. I opted for printmaking because I wanted to explore different mediums of expression. The college is well equipped with faculty experienced in their own particular mediums aswell as exploring new mediums. You will get the freedom to build you creativity.
