Remarks
Good:Firstly it is the No.1 NIT in India, Secondly some PSUs directly participate in the placement process (generally PSUs recruitment is based on Gate score). Also the placements is good when compared to any other college for our department. Moreover campus area is 880acres. Hostel are spacious enough with 3 members per room in 1st year and 2members per room from 2nd year.Bad:In 2020, due to the pandemic some companies have refused recruitment after giving joining dates. In first year there is common mess for all south Indians but it gets better from second year like state specific mess(andhra mess, kerala mess, north Indian mess,).As the campus is big the hostels are a little long from the Lecture halls and u cannot walk that distance easily without a cycle.Temperature in the even semester is generally high because it is one of the hottest cities in India.
Course Curriculum Overview
Academics and Curriculum wise it is student friendly and the exams are conducted like 2cycle tests + end sem + assignments or mid sem + end sem + assignments (total of 100 Mark's per subject). The exams are not just theory based but also analytical with clear concepts and knowledge of the subject one cannot pass easily.Faculty is one the best we can have. They are well qualified and have expertise in the subject they teach.
Internships Opportunities
For internships also many companies come to campus for recruitment. Also they may receive PPO from the company if u perform well during internship. I have done my internship under my uncle at my native place.
Placement Experience
Placements are good in any department for our campus. But only negative is that one can get only one offer like if one get a offer in one company he cannot sit for other companies what ever maybe the package. From my juniors the placement package in our dept has been increased for our dept. But for 2020 passouts it is bad when compared to other depts.
College Events
The campus is very good in this aspect. One can join any sports club of the choice and practice. We have many grounds in the campus with Football courts, Basketball, Tennis, Badminton, Swimming, Indoor Stadium,etc. Also there is gym if you wish to go in the mrng and evng.Apart from sports there are many other clubs like Pixelburg(for photography), Thesipian Society(for Acting,), Separate Drawing Club,
Fee Structure And Facilities
Firstly for low family income below 100000 can get fee reimbursement for tuition fees and basic fee is to be paid.OBC people can get 1/3 concessions and need to pay 2/3 of the fee.Hostel fee is normal for any student which is around 30000 per semester.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility and messes are good from 2nd year but for 1st year it is common mess one should sustain. 3members per room in 1st year and 2 members per room from 2nd year.Some hostels have shuttle courts in the middle, some have gardens, some have volleyball courts,
Admission
Admission is based on the JEE mains exam, one should be In the top 1500 of any category to get into NITT if there is no branch criteria they have.Apart from top 5 branches our campus also have Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Instrumentation and Control Engineering (almost %placements).There is no GD and PI for the admission process.
