Remarks

I had referred to CIT, VSB Engineering College and SRIT. While I searched reviews about colleges in Tamil Nadu, VSB Engineering College, Karur was third place in the state for academics. Also, there is 100% placement. So I visited the college and was impressed by the education system and placement opportunities. For the students who secured 190+ cut off, they give full scholarship. As my cut off was 190.75, I availed myself of a full scholarship. According to cut off, fee structure varied and also there was scholarship based on caste. During my counselling, I chose VSB Engineering College. During counselling, staffs from VSB guided us and cared well. I am in my final semester and still, I didn't regret even a single day for choosing this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I had chosen B.Tech-Information Technology. As there is no world without computers, I chose IT as my field. The subjects are also easy to learn in IT. In our college, there was a mentor for every 20 students. So we feel free to approach them to discuss both personal and educational problems. For teaching subjects, the ratio for faculty: student is 1:54. Most of the faculties are PhD holders and are well trained for teaching. They were alumni of top colleges with lots of practical knowledge. They were very friendly, so there was no hesitation to approach them anytime. In our college, the unit test was conducted before the Internal test. That was too useful for us. If we fail in internal, we were given another chance to pass the test. I am sure that without these tests we couldn't pass the semester exams. The tests were too useful when we prepared for semester exams.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Many companies offered internships. Some of them are Zoho, Cognizant, Accenture, Kaar technologies with stipend 10,000 and 15,000. During the second year, we attended internship in some MNC's at Coimbatore and Karur(for a period of 1 month). We had done projects in different domain like Cloud computing, Machine Learning, e-health based on AI and so on.

Placement Experience

5

Our placement training had started from the first year onwards. In the first year, we had communication classes every week (twice a week). During the second year, we had value added course on the topic of trend. From the third year, we had coding classes from different vendors. By the end of the third year, placement training started full-fledged. Separate training for aptitude, coding, communication from different vendors was given. The companies started to visit our college in the final year. The training for production-based companies was given separately. They split the students based on their capacity and training were given based on their weak area. They assigned separate faculty members and trainers for placement discussions. Overall, placement was 100 % percentage with good packages.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure varied depending upon the cut-off of the students. For those with 190+ cut-off, they offered a full scholarship(including tuition fee and hostel fee). For 180-189.75, they gave scholarships for tuition fee and hostel fee/bus fee should be paid. for 165-179.75 cut-off students, half of the tuition fee was reduced and the hostel/bus fee should be paid. For those below 165 cut-off, the full fee should be paid. At that time, the tuition fee was 60,000 rupees and the hostel fee was 40,000 rupees. Apart from that, we paid the examination fee separately for semester exams. And I got a government scholarship of rupees 6,000 yearly. I got offers from 3 companies. DXC Technologies- 3.6 LPA, Cognizant-4.5 LPA, Sony-6 LPA. I would say VSB Engineering College is one of the best choices to get placed and shine in your career.

Campus Life

4

We had annual days every year in April. We had workshops and symposiums during our academic year. In our library, there is 'n' number of books available. An E-copy of books is also available. Every week 2 hours are allocated as a library period. At that time, we were allowed to watch videos and also read journals. Hostel students can use the library anytime. Also, they gave library card. We had a smart class twice a week. Lab classes were allocated for practical learning. We had all kind of sports and we had a sports period every week. We attended some zonal level and state level competitions. Many of the students were interested in NSS and Rotary clubs.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel was amazing. We had rooms with steel cot, 4 shelves, washbasin, steel table, chair and attached restroom. There were 4 students per room sometimes 3 per room. We had tiffin items like breakfast, then full meals as lunch, healthy snacks at 5 pm and tiffin items with curd rice for dinner. The quality of food was good. Daily they asked for feedback and there was a "Food Quality" notebook. If we have any suggestions, we could write them down in that notebook. The hostel fee was 40000 rupees and the facilities in the hostel were worth it. We had a hostel within the college campus. Also, there is a temple, we can go for prayers. Daily we had prayers in the evening in the hostel. There were separate wardens and maintenance warden, chief warden. All of them were friendly. Overall the hostel was good at an affordable price.

The specific aspect which is great future on IT Field of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose the course. The curriculum prepared me to solve tough real-world logical aptitude test and coding test. The course curriculum is only based on the theory in several areas. My suggestion is to improve that too in practical manner for better real-world understanding. The frequency and the timing of my exams along with my perspective on the difficulty level is 2hrs.
