Remarks

1) I applied for colleges, including VIT, SRM, UPES, Manipal, etc. I didn't attend them because i had got an admission to a college a step ahead of the mentioned ones. Moreover, Punjab Engineering College is a govt college and thus being a bit better option. 2) I availed the Army Quota for my admission as my father serves for the Indian Army. 3) For my quota, there was a completely different criterion, depending on the relative score obtained by the students applying in the same quota. Thus, it's different for different admission years. No minimum age requirements as such. 4) Admission process consisted of the Documentation Submission, Orientation and such training ceremonies.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

1)I chose Mechanical Engineering because i had a great interest in automobiles from the very beginning. Thus I wanted to pursue this course before even applying for a college! 2) Faculty to students ratio is good. 3) Qualification of the faculty is genuine and really good. The course curriculum is up to date and the faculty appointed is good. It basically depends on the course one is pursuing. In some courses, eg BTECH CSE, the faculty is young, enthusiastic, and willing to work and help students with all they have. While for the other departments, some faculty members are really aged, thus being a bit of a problem for the connection with students. 4) We had tests, midsems, and endsems in one semester. And due to the intake of students having a really good score, there was always a good competition between the students.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

1) Our college offers many internship opputunities for the third year students. The roles depend on the kind of company. The companies included in the internship range from core and non core companies. The average stipend for the internship is around 15-20k. 2) Projects also depend on the type of company providing the internship.

Placement Experience

4.5

1) Students from the third year are eligible for internships. Whereas for the placement, all the fourth year students are eligible for the placement process. 2) There are many companies, including most of the non core and core compnaies. The placements also include Banking compnaies like JPM and GS etc. 3) Highest Package of our college is around 30L. While the average package is around 6-7L. 4) Around 80% of students get placed from the college. 5) College Placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

1) The cost of each semester is approx 63000 (tuition). 2) Because i was from the Army Quota, i personally have no idea about scholarships and other financial aids. The college offers internship and job opportunities. There are many fields that the college offers, including all the noncore and core jobs/internships.

Campus Life

4.5

1) The techno-cultural fest of our college is called PECFEST. They are pretty good and the students are really involved with all they have. PECFEST generally takes place in the month of October-November. 2) The library of our college is really equipped and full of all the old and new collections of books. 3) Most of the classrooms are equipped with good facilities that include virtual learning facilities. 4) Sports and extracurricular activities are good too. It includes a swimming pool, gym etc. 5) All the clubs are run by students, which include, Dramatics, Music, Debating, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read

Placement do occur in the college. It's average package is around 7.5, lakh. Since I am the first year right now, I don't have data to support the placement record, but some of my seniors of fourth year are getting placed. One of my IT senior got placed for 14 LPA and other other, my Cse senior got placed for around 12 LPA. so opportunities are there for those who want to do something
