Since BMSIT is affiliated to VTU, karnataka CET score is important for getting admission. My CET ranking was around 5600 and i chose computer science and engineering on a payment seat under general merit category.
Course Curriculum Overview
VTU syllabus was mix of both theory and practicals. You will able to choose your electives starting 3rd year (5th semester). As far as computer science and engineering is concerned, electives were a mix of electronics, mathematics and mechanical subjects.
Internships Opportunities
Students were encouraged to attend internships at companies. Few companies provided internships in the last year of engineering. Stipends were paid on hourly basis. Google, yahoo, microsoft, cisco, honda, oracle, GE, IBM, volvo, john deere etc were some of the top IT and core engineering companies that provided internship.
Placement Experience
Placements were clubbed with BMS college of engineering. Very few in-house placements were held at BMSIT. Around 70 % of my classmates were placed during last 3 semesters. Highest package then was 7 lakhs. Brand BMS carries a lot of fame. no doubt many fortune 500 companies queue in for recruiting students.
Fees and Financial Aid
BMSIT has tied up with allahabad bank for all the banking and loan facility. Education loans were provided at a very less interest rates.
Alumni/Alumna
College alumni is very active. There is a dedicated staff in each department to handle alumni network. Alumni are encouraged to present a seminar of the latest technology in town and assist the juniors in placements. Alumni meet is handled once in a year and invites are sent accordingly.
Exam Structure
SC and ST students were waived off this fees as per the government rules. For other candidates, semester exam fees was very minimal. 1500 ~ 2000 rs per annum.
Admission
Karnataka examination Authority formerly Common entrance test (CET) cell handled all the seat selection process at a very nominal fee. On seat selection, we had to visit the college in person for all the documentation and admission process. Since mine was a government payment seat, fees was 50K per annum plus examination fee of 1500 per annum.
Faculty
Faculty were highly educated and friendly. There was no shortage of teaching staff and best faculty were put into handling each subject. Majority of the staff were master degree holders and few PhD's.
