Remarks

The PEC college has given fine jewels like kalpana chawla, jaspal bhatti,Vanya Mishra etc. But the standard is degrading day by day. The need of the time is to keep a check on teaching standards and to improve workshops. More emphasis should be given on pr

Entrance Preview

I took my coaching at Lakshya institute,Patiala. I secured AIR 9243 in IIT JEEAIR 4643 in JEE MAINS and 94.8% in 12th boards. I applied for Delhi Technical University,NSIT and PEC university. Later I discarded DTU and NSIT being too far from my home town. The counselling for PEC admissions was organised by Panjab university. In the first online round I opted Electrical engineering. The preference sequence was Electrical,Mechanical,Civil,Cse,Ece. I was the rank opener of Electrical branching PEC. But later I changed my mind and I changed my branch to Mechanical engineering in manual counselling round. Here I was 3rd in the class. And hence I could not get scholarship that was meant for the rank opener. Even today I repent on my decision for not taking CSE seeing the hefty packages of CSE students. So my advice to all the students is that don't listen to others. Just choose the branch of your own passion. And don't compromise the college for the sake of distance from your home. All that matters is the name of the college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum is far better than other colleges, but still miles behind that of the IITS. The thing is that the course curriculum is fine but neither the teachers are interested in teaching nor the students are interested in studying. From research point of view PEC is far behind the IITs. In the first year course is nearly same for all branches. In the first year the is one additional audit course in which there are three choices NCC,NSS,physical education. There are also some elective non technical courses like microeconomics, public administration, management, entrepreneurship, business administration, organizational behaviour etc. The total course consists of 200 credits and can be completed in atmost 6 years. There is also a provision of Honours degree. For that you need to get 50 credits in additional Honours exams.

Internships Opportunities

Yes the college provide internship through campus. But the stipend depends upon the branch. The avg stipend for CSE students is 25000 and that of Mechanical students is 6000. Also number of companies visiting campus is around 25 for CSE and around 8 for mechanical. So in Mechanical branch only top scorers are able to get internship through college. Here is the list of few companies visiting to our campus Amazon 40000,Alstom. 15000,Sandisk 25000,General Electric 25000,Tata 18000,Eicher 9000,L&T. 3800,JP Morgan 35000,Grey Orange 25000,Lexinova 12000,Tata steeland many more software and patent companies.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placement records are good. Around 75% students are placed every year. Average Package of each branch is as follows CSE 12 lac,ECE 10 LAC,MECHANICAL 3.5 LAC,CIVIL 3-4 LAC,ELECTRICAL 4 LAC Some of the prestigious companies visiting for campus placements.

College Events

3

Every year PEC FEST is held in the month of October for 3 days. During the fest quizes, contests, technical and cultural events, fashion contest are held. At night there is dj night all 3 days. Some eminent bands like parikarma,Coke studio, Sunburn have visited our college during the fest. At late night movies are played into the auditorium. Technical events like robowar, autoquiz, producer and other related to coding are held with cash prizes (though they are seldom given). Other events like contraption, aquajet, e monopoly etc are held. Besides this cultural dance show, magic show, hip hop hussle, drama, music events are held. Last year an expert lecture from Dr Walter lewin from MIT was organised. Auto show is another worth seeing event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The semester fees in around 40000 Hostel fee 40000 p.a. Mess charges extra overall hostel is bit expensive but each student get a single room. So at present the complete degree at PEC will cost you around 6-7lac.(including hostel fee). The fee for NRI students is 7000$ per year. For candidates from SAARC nations the fee is 3500$ per year. Every year there is annual increment in semester fees of around 10-15%.

Fees and Financial Aid

In the first year the rank opener of each branch get 100 % fee waiver. After that the topper is given 100% percent scholarship each year. For SC students 50% Dee is waived For economically weaker section 2 students from each branch are waived off 100% fee. Also each student get a discount of 5000 if he or she purchase a new laptop through college.

Campus Life

3

Gender ratio is around 35% girls and 65 % boys except of course in Mechanical branch with gender ratio of 68:2.Out of around 400 years 50% are hostlers and 50% are day scholar. Around 7-8 students are NRI in each branch. Ragging is officially banned.Various clubs and technical societies are there for art, photography, dance, dramatics, debating etc. Technical societies include FSAE,BAJA,EFFICYCLE,ROBOTICS,SME etc.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is quiet strong. Every year expert lectures are held by college alumnus and alumni meets are held. Many alumni have even given grants to PEC. The seniors are PEC are quiet co-operative and helpful.

Exam Structure

The exams are held twice in the year mid semester and final. Beside this some marks are reserved for assignments, quizes, presentations, projects, seminars. The mid semester exams are held in 3 days usually 2 in a day. The final are continuous with one each

Faculty

2

The faculty of our college is average. Though the teachers had doctorates from prestigious IITs and have a lot of experience, but their way of teaching is not so good. Except few teachers, most of the teachers focus on just problem solving and not on conc
