Remarks

The college management is just like any other government organisation who donot bother for the value of time and thus waste a very good amount of time os students to get very basic and nominal things done at a normal pace. The biggest drawback is the state government is negligible towards the uplifting of college. A better support from state government is needed very urgently or else it will deteriorate a college with a great potential and a splendid bunch of crowd with great minds and hard working nature. Being in state capital and still neglected by government somewhat makes us sad.

Entrance Preview

UPSEE conducted By APJAKTU (formerly known as UPTU) Conducts the exam for State as well as National level through test centres in various other states. IET Lucknow is one of the best Engineering College in the state. And being a govt. college it has a good reputation in the market. I opted for this college because I felt it somewhat better than mid-level NITs which were available to me through JEE-Mains and also because the college is near to my hometown Agra. The most important reason for me to choose Mechanical Engineering here was because its the best branch of this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course Curriculum to be very frank is not too much updated (especially in the branches (like CS &IT) which require frequent updates due to change in Technology. But the Basic course is as per the demand of the industry. What I personally feel is there is a need to improve the choices in subjects under open elective section, and the bad thing here is that there is no actually a choice provided by the Institute to choose from. Its much of majority based decision to choose from which single open elective is to be studied b the whole batch. this is somewhat painful. Also in core branches like Mechanical and Electrical there is still a lot of improvement needed to involve subjects which have computers as a tool for better engineering practices needed in industry at present times.

Internships Opportunities

No the worst part of the college is there is no internship provided from college itself. Students have to search for internship on their own through various search portals or through their family contacts.

Placement Experience

3

Placements in core branches (in core engineering field) at present is next to zero. However we get couple of companies which recruit 1 or 2 students each from a batch of 76. which is not a good sign for the complete batch. This certainly causes chaos in the final year of students because of job insecurity. And the reason of less number of companies on campus is solely because of students of the past, as they reject the offer provided to them on-campus and go for PSUs or higher studies. This certainly reduces the credibility of college in front of the HR team of various companies and thus they decide to rather not come to waste time if students are not interested. This certainly leaves mediocre students to suffer a lot, who are not good enough to get into PSU or a good college. Branches like CS/IT have plenty and sufficient number of companies visiting campus, namely: TCS 80 students & CTC of 3.36 lacs pa Wipro 25 students & CTC of 3.25 to 4.2 lacs pa Aurigo 4-5 students with CTC of 4-5 lacs pa Meditab 3-4 students with CTC of 3.6 lacs pa Software AG 4-5 students with CTC of 4-5 lacs pa Newgen Softwares 2-3 students with CTC of 5-6 lacs pa Compro 3-4 students with CTC of 4-5 lacs AQ 3 students with CTC of 4.25 lacs pa Adobe 4-5 students with CTC of 10 lacs pa Amazon none placed & many other companies also visit ( the above list is constant) In core branches we have TCL 5 students with CTC of 6-7 lacs pa Honda Cars 4 students with CTC of 4.5 lacs pa BEL 8 students with CTC of 6-7 lacs pa Lava Mobiles 6 students with CTC of 3.6 lacs pa Sterlite Technolgies 4 students with CTC of 4.2 lacs pa Idea 2-3 students with CTC of 4-4.5 lacs pa

College Events

2.5

The college has 1 Annual Technical cum Cultural Fest Called Encore every year in the month of Feb or March. Its quite a good and largest in the city with great stars coming in 3 and a half day of fest. The college also has 1 annual sports festival and this is the only period in the complete year when you will find equipments and ground upto the mark. Also there are various small branch fests which occur in the month of September April, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees of IET is very cheap. Tuition Fees is 45,000 pa, Additional Fees is 3,000 pa, Mess Fees is 30,000 pa, Hostel Fees is 10,500 pa, Ward-Boy Charges is 3,000 pa. During the time of admission a caution fee of 5,000 is to be submitted. Also in 1st year a one time admission fees of 10,000 is to be submitted.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college has scholarship facility for economic weaker students under the DSW (Dean of student Welfare Dept.) Students with annual family income of less than 2 lacs pa get tuition fee, and hostel fee returned from govt. of Uttar Pradesh. The total fee of the college is not a big amount so loans are definitely easily available. Also the branch openers of the college get complete fee waiver no matter if they fall in category of lower income group or not.

Campus Life

1.5

Robotics and Debates occur annually and not frequently. Extracurricular activities are not good in number but still we have Racing Team, Dance Team, Drama Team, Compering Team who do exceptionally well at competitions of national level. Labs are certainly not a good thing at IET. and sports here need a lot of improvement. Sports is just an annual affair and not a regular one. Gender ratio is 5:1 for male is to female students. The college doesnot attract students fromother states so you will find more of UP students and some Delhi-NCR students and a couple of students from neighboring states like MP, Rajasthan, Bihar and Uttarakhand.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel has sharing with 3 other students (total 4 students in a room) in 1st and 2nd yr (the overcrowd has occurred recently because of increase in seats) in 3rd yr u have 2 people in the room and in 4th yr its single. The best part of the hostel is that you get extremely fast and unlimited internet, The best part of the hostel.1st and 2nd yr hostels are new so are better in infra. Toilets are not that good. Mess food varies from hostel to hostel as they are managed by different managers. Its good in some and poor in a couple of others.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is the best thing in this college. They are spread all across the globe with major roles in some of the greatest giants in the world. The best part is they are always ready to help morally and financially whenever approached. There is pool of variety of alumni. For various different needs we can go to various different alumni in diverse market.

Exam Structure

Exams are not quite frequent but they are not chilled out. They certainly need a lot of hard work and studies to get a decent score. There are 2 sectional (internal exams) called CTs in every semester and 2 semester exams every year. The college is autonomous and thus conducts the exams and semesters on its own without any involvement of the University also the dates of exam are different from the dates of university exams. The college does not have CGPA system.

Admission

I got the admission through UPSEE the state entrance examination. UPSEE is conducted by APJAKTU (Formerly UPTU). The maximum marks of the exam is 600 with 150 questions the questions carry 4 marks each with 0 marks for wrong or unanswered questions. The time limit for Exam is 3 hrs with marks distributed in three equal sections namely Physics Chemistry And Mathematics. The score of 408-432 will assure you the admission in college. best branches like CS & Mechanical filling at the maximum range.

Faculty

3.5

The college had some remarkably great professors till 2011 but after their retirement there were no filling of vacancies and thus the faculties which comprise 50% in almost all branches are contract faculties. i.e. they are not permanent and they are the worst to handle this task, They literally dont know what they are teaching. However the 50% of the faculties are regular and they are decent enough with good Acads and great knowledge of their subject.

Placement Experience:

Placements are actually impressive with our college having the highest placement rate among others in the region. We usually achieve ~90% placement. We get opportunities from many large groups, such as Infosys, TCS, JPMC, BNY, Logitech, etc etc The list goes on. The highest package that I saw was of around 1Cr from a company I don't remember their name, but it was based out of SF and was a really great one. Average placement we see is around 12-20LPA packages.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I opted for this course because I want to be a software engineer. I chose my course because it was well-informed, and my interest was also in this field from the start. The faculty members and platform were also quite good for nurturing personal skills and making one a skilled and disciplined person in life. I wish this course would focus more on practical things rather than being theoretical. Events, fests, and the campus environment are also very good and pleasing to the eye. Connectivity was also easy from all around the world due to its location. Scholarships were also awarded to almost every student.
