I am one of those newly admitted students of Cooch Behar Govt. Engineering College(CGEC). The college is approved by AICTE & MAKAUT. The admission process is fully controlled by WBJEE Board. Nothing to worry about that cause the whole admission process is very smooth. Just you have to carry all those important things which should be informed you to take. The Elegibility criteria is that you should have 75% in your 12th (any board) & also You should must have domicile of West Bengal. As this is a goverment college, its fees is also very low, around 6000/- per sem for CSE & ECE and 3000/- per sem for Core Branches. You also can have some fee refund benefits from TFW quota. You have to show your income certificate for that TFW and you will get almost free B.tech course. Also you will get other qouta benefits lie OBC-A, OBC-B, SC, ST , PWD, OBC-A PWD etc. Actually the whole admission process is very nice.

I'm from Electronics and Communication Engineering Branch. I had chosen that branch as I've interest in Robotics and Arduino. Also from the ECE branch, one can have an opportunity to join both Core section jobs and also IT sector jobs. The faculty & student ratio should be around 1:10. Maximum of the faculties are PhD or M.tech from highly reputed colleges like IITs, IIITs, JU etc. They teach very beautifully but as there is not enough faculty members so always there is a huge pressure on everyone, so the classes are not frequent. But they complete our syllabus under time. Also there are 4 internal exams in a Sem, so we need to end our every term syllabus in time. The internal exam questions are prepared by our college professors which are uploaded later on the MAKAUT Student Protal. The main semestar end exam paper is made by MAKAUT.

The Internship programme is not too much better as this is a new college. But there are some companies like Infosys, accenture etc companies come to give internships. As the college is growing rapidly so you can wish for better internships in the future.

As I am fresher in this college I don't know a lot about the placement. But as per college news, some big companies like TCS, ACCENTURE, INFOSYS, BYJUS, etc companies had come to our campus to offer placements. As the college is new no. of offers and no. of companies are very low. I don't know the exact number of offers that came but the avg. The package is around 3.3 LPA and the highest package was 7 LPA. Also, some of the students got betters placements from off campus and some students also opt. for higher studies like M.tech. Some of our Alumni are in IITs and NITS and also in some great Companies & PSUs. This college is best for those who want to go for higher studies after B.tech. I also prefer to go for GATE after B.tech.

I've already been told that this college is a Government college so here you can complete your course comfortably. There is a very small amount of money which is taken by the college and which is fully acceptable. Like can you imagine an engineering college is taking around 6000/- per sem for non-core subs and 3000/- for core subs. It's a very small amount. Also there is a nice thing for you awaiting in this course. There are some Scholarships like SVMCM, OASIS, FREESHIP etc. where you can get around 60000/- in a year. Actually you can complete your full course for free if you are eligible for this scholarships.

The campus is huge. It's spread around 27 acres area. Just at the side of this college, the TORSA river is going. Also if the sky is cleared, you can get an amazing view of Kanchanjangha. It's beautiful. Also the city in which this college is situated is said the CITY OF ROYALS. Once you see that city you must be get into love with this city. The city is COOCH BEHAR. There is an annual fest named ESPARENZA happens every year in this college. As last two years we went through this pandemic the fest could not be happened. Also there are some other fests happen everytime in this college. You will get Tech-O-Ber in October, Dhwani in December, Drawing Competition and many more. There are a lot of fests for you awaiting. Also you will get appreciation clubs for every sports and activities. Like for techs "Tech-O-Nicks", for Singing "Singing Club", for Drawing "Rongomilanti", for Debate "Debate Club" etc. Also there is a Library where you can get every books you need.
