Remarks

Being an institute of national significance , it will be having a higher level of education as well as infrastructure. The campus will be more updated in all aspects.Since I was not a NET/GATE qualified person , had to undergo college level entrance exam. Once entrance exam was passed , two level of one to one interview was there.At each stage , a certain portion of applicants were scrutinised. The first round of interview was just subject knowledge test and the second round was more into research proposals and domain knowledge test.

Course Curriculum Overview

My course is phd in computer science. The student to faculty ratio is good and it ensures that the guides are able to give individual care to all students. The course work exams for phd was of moderate level and pass percentage is very high

Internships Opportunities

Since I am phd student , internship is not an option. I do have some mentorship collaborations with some other institutes.

Placement Experience

In the current situation , on campus placement drives are not possible. So that is out of context. Other than that , students are finding internships and other small job opportunities. Direct employment in large level companies is not happening in the institute.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees structure is moderate but opportunities for scholarship is low even though scholars do get a small amount as teaching assistance. The exposure to fellow researcher communities is a bit low. So it's a bit hard to acquire collaborative works and other such things.

Campus Life

Since I am phd student , I don't thing the question will be relevant to me.additional I had taken admission during the corona period , so students inside the campus is out of question. Even though that being said , the previous pictures and videos suo that extensive level celebrations and things had been done in previous years with respect to celebrations of all states and cultural differences.

Admission

The admission procedure comprised of one round of exam with two rounds of interviews. The exam was objective based with syllabus similar to gate exam. Both round of interviews had a panel of 4 tutors. The first round was just a round to check the subject knowledge. The second round panel were faculty from the particular area of research and they were mainly trying the evaluate the candidates knowledge in the particular domain.

Experiences so far

Likes

My experience at lissah has been mixing of challenges. Psychology depart has supportive teachers and classes is good
Campus is peaceful and it’s so greenery there are opportunities to take part in different academics
I also like that the psychology department has its own lab and practical exposure and Lissah is well known for psychology itself

Dislikes

I feel that there could be more programmes activities and opportunities for students to make college life
Location could feel like quiet and it’s not in town area
Those who prefer more active atmosphere I would not recommend here

I chose bsc psychology because I was interested in understanding human behaviour. The curriculum covers different areas of psychology along with subjects such as major psychology minor statistics and physiology then English mdc . Since I am still in my first year I have only experienced the initial part of course

Likes

The campus is well maintained and is clean
Teachers are willing to give individual attention if needed
Above average food is provided in canteen

Dislikes

Lack of campus life as college is strict
Majority of the staff members are the type to hold a grudge against you
Spoon feeding students and not allowing them to think and improvise accordingly

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from semester 6 onwards. But campus placement for civil engineering is fairly low. But companies like Aarbee Structures Pvt Ltd has offered jobs for my mates

Is engineering here worth it?

Likes

All the teachers are well qualified and equipped to teach but the quality of teaching differs as per individual.

Dislikes

The say of students in matters concerning them or others is nil. We have very little say as the management takes all decisons.
Teachers have ego and superiority issues between themselves which might affect the children in 4th year,project phases.
Fests,events and functions are not upto any expectations.Schools in trivandrum have better events than our college.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible from 7th semester to sit for interviews. The pod.ai app helps us in making the resume and calculating a cgpa to appear for the intwrviews. The pod.ai registration fees is 500?. Companies such as nissan,infosys,commandtech,bimlabs,gulfasia etc has visited . And the highest package was 11 LPA and lowest was 3 LPA

The sacrifices of students

Likes

The teachers and the classrooms. The facilities of yhe college also good
The teachers are very friendly and cares about students
The facilities like all the classes are smart

Dislikes

The hostel is too bad in the college very bad and the bathroom and toilet are very cleanless like indian railway
The food of the hostel is too bad we can get flies from the food
Some teachers are not studying proper they are just reading books and not explains

I choose this course because i heard that this course gives us many opportunity after graduation like in translation and we will able to speak arabic well. The teaching method was good but not now. Now all teachers are only reading books in classrooms The semester exams were between 3 months now from this academic year it will in 6 months

I feel like staffs in my department are pretty good, atleast they fullfill their duties to cover the portions in right time
We have placements training, offered free of cost by college itself
Notes and necessary materials for studying are provided from college itself, and most teachers don't force on buying textbooks or other materials

Dislikes

College is located in aarakunnam, which is a bit remote area hence for various needs we often need to travel a few kilometres even for basic necessities
The road to collage entrance is a steep road, and currently it's under construction (it's been a yr)
Students are required to park their vehicles outside the college, as there is no parking facilities for students inside campus

Placement Experience:

Currently placements are bit low, due to inflation, but compared to other colleges like KMEA, etc we have better placements similar to Muthoot and all. We have placement training, and other supports which can help us crack aptitude exams and prepare for placements Almost 70-80% students are placed every year, with an avg package of 4LPA

My dear college

Likes

I liked the atmosphere the college offers and the facilities for studying
The sports facilities are pretty good considering the supplements they have
The library got my attention since it has alot of books and its the centre of attraction of the college

Dislikes

The college doesn't provide any placements and job opportunities
The college doesn't provide any pool options for swimming lessons
Teachers get changed every now and then this makes the continuity of the lessons very hard

Course Curriculum Overview:

The social service got my eyes on this course. The intention of creating the mentality of helping others by social service made me join the course. This course provides a great service towards the betterment of future and people in it.

There are a lot of assignment often for the students

After 6 th semester students become eligible for placements . It's in the final years . Many companies have visited the college and made offers for the students like Wipro,Tenzo tech , infopark etc Around 70 Percent students get placement

I cleared JEE MAINS and on the basis of my rank, I applied for many colleges. I was specifically looking for the top two engineering branches that is Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering and have applied for many but could not get into it due to higher rank category. Earlier I got Civil Engineering in NIT SILCHAR then I got Electronics and Communication Engineering at IIIT KOTTAYAM. I preferred IIIT KOTTAYAM over NIT SILCHAR because of the branch since Electronics and Communication Engineering is considered the second best branch after Computer Science Engineering. Yes, I got rejection from other colleges because the eligibility criteria for those colleges were securing high rank but my rank was not up to the mark. To get into such colleges , students need to clear Jee Mains and secure a good rank to get into such colleges. For general category , students need to get the rank under 30000 to get admission to such colleges. Colleges are listed via Josaa Counselling. Admission procedure is the student need to bring some of the important documents such as 10th and 12th board marksheet , category paper , jee rank and other such important documents to get into the admission procedure. no placements but good to explore your interests
