Remarks

College is owned and maintained by the Tamilnadu State government and hence there are no insane rules that prevail. Management is usually out of the academic and student activities thus ensuring a thriving and liberal student community.

Entrance Preview

I secured 198.5 out of 200 in Tamilnadu State Board higher secondary examinations Engineering cut-off. Next to IIT-Madras, CEG is the most reputed institution in Tamilnadu.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course curriculum was extensive and up-to-date.When it comes to CS/IT, it is very important that what you learn is in sync with the current technology market. CEG has taken care of that part very well. Our courses include major CS ares such as.

Internships Opportunities

Our college attracts most of the best companies in the industry today. We had Microsoft, Amazon, Ebay/PayPal, MorganStanley, Goldman sachs and several other large corporations come in for campus placements and internship offers. The general stipend is on par with the industry best. Most of these companies provide stipend on par with what is offered to IIT graduates.

Placement Experience

5

As mentioned above, all the companies offer placements.Apart from product companies, major IT service companies such as CTS, TCS, Accenture, Infosys, Wipro also visit the campus and employ students in bulk numbers.More than 90% of the students get placed before they graduate. Salary structure for CEG graduates is usually higher than that of the affiliated college students'.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government institution, CEG has one of the lowest fee structures in the state for Engineering education. For a normal merit student, each semester (6months) would cost less than 20, 000 Rs including the hostel and mess charges.

Fees and Financial Aid

College doesn't facilitate any loan process. But considering the reputation of the university, most banks easily provide loans to students who pursue their education here.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostels buildings are usually old and thus the facilities are not that great.Recently some new hostel blocks were built, but they are charged higher than the old ones. Most students stay with in the campus for being close with their friends.Food quality is manageable, but then not so great.

Alumni/Alumna

The college is building a strong database of alumni and they are started giving out alumni id cards. Alumni association meetings are conducted regularly off late. Alumni association even provides financial assistance to needy students. But the network is not so active as you wish it would be.

Exam Structure

We have the semester system of examinations. In every semester, there are three internal assessments of which best two will be considered for final grade. The exams are usually well spaced and internal examinations have a flexible schedule conducted by the teaching faculty.Since there is flexibility, usually exams are not so stressful.

Faculty

4

We had Faculties with a lot of experience in every department. We had renowned Professors who had experience of above 20 years in the field of technology and teaching. Most professors and lecturers are more than just teachers. They are enablers who challenge the students to bring the best out of them. They actively guide students in symposiums, workshops and such events and make the college education a truly holistic one.

The curriculum is relevant and provides a good balance of theoretical knowledge and practical learning. It prepares students for real-world applications, but more industry projects, practical sessions, and updated teaching methods would help. Exams are generally well-spaced and moderately difficult.
