Life at VIT! Must know for aspiring students!

I had written the VITEEE exam and got admission into vit Vellore, My branch is CSE core. The application form can be found in the official website of vit i.e vit.ac.in It's an exam which isn't very hard to crack, but at the same time needs good preparation, for those preparing for IIT-JEE etc they would definitely find it easy, but those preparing for state-level engineering exams like CET, comedk need to prepare a little harder and will surely get through the exam.

The curriculum is pretty good and we as students must give our best efforts as teachers alone cant help us understand everything. Faculty members are good, but some may not be very good at teaching but they too are reputed teachers who have good teaching experience and have published some research papers, so we can definitely learn a lot from them too! In VIT, each semester there are three main exams called CAT1, CAT2, and FAT exam. i.e these are the theory examinations apart from Lab exams. Overall CGPA is calculated by considering these marks and both relative and absolute grading is present. Semester Exams arent difficult to crack provided we follow the teacher and also do some higher-order questions.

The fee structure depends on our rank. Basically, 5 categories are present i.e in terms of tuition fee and hostel fees. Category 1 students' tuition fee is roughly around 2 lacs per year and hostel/mess is separate. More details in the website' In the 3rd semester all students must compulsorily do an internship, but unlike IITs, VIT doesn't have its own placement cell, but still provide a lot of support in terms of placements, internships, etc and also encourage us to do online courses etc. Like Coursera basic plan is free for VIT students.

Rivera and gravitas are two main fests at VIT, It's a fun-filled event with a lot to learn also. more details on the website. VIT has a lot of books in its library and many journals and encourages students to read them. classrooms are good but not all classrooms are AC, and considering the heat all labs are air-conditioned. Sports facility is also excellent, vit has swimming pools, basketball court, cricket nets, etc and a lot of tournaments also take place round the year many clubs and chapters are there and students can join them from the 2nd semester.
