VIT Vellore - Complete Inside Review

Admission is done through the VITEEE examination. During CoVID it was conducted online. But now it is conducted in CBT mode at selected centres. The syllabus is the same as JEE MAINS so no need to prepare for it separately. The application fee is Rs.100 Anybody with PCM/PCMB background can apply for this examination.

CSE is the most sort out branch here. Faculty: The student ratio is 1:80. Almost all faculties have done PhD - but most of them are average. Some faculties are the best in their branch and some are blacklisted. Faculties are chosen here by the FFCS system. So you can avoid selecting blacklisted faculties here. There are 3 exams conducted CAT 1, CAT 2, and FAT each semester - with quizzes in each subject. So it is pretty much hectic. Also, we have to submit many assignments for each subject.

Many companies come here for hiring interns. The internship drive starts in the 3rd year. Most companies come here to hire tech interns. Good CGPA matters the most for qualifying for interviews for internships. So make sure, you maintain a good CGPA. You must have projects under your belt - at least 1 full-fledged project. Also if you have a good rank in competitive programming then it will further help you in securing an internship.

Fees are divided category wise Category 1 to Category 5. Cat 1 and Cat 2 fees are less, but fees are very high from Cat 3 to Cat 5. Scholarships are available for the top 100 rankers in VITEEE. You can get financial assistance like education loans from banks - the university can help you apply for loans. I think it's not worth it if you are taking admission in Cat 4 or Cat 5 because fees are too high - in that case either take a drop and try for tier 1 college or take admission in an affordable tier 3 college.

Rivera and Gravitas are annual and tech fests respectively. The library here is very good - there are all sorts of books here and an AC environment. Also, there is a digital library. Classrooms here are like normal school classrooms - desk and bench and blackboard with projector. University has many sports facilities like a swimming pool, gym, badminton court, football, cricket etc. Also, there is a large number of clubs and chapters from all sorts of fields which you can join.

There are AC and Non AC rooms with 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 bedded rooms to choose from. Rooms are like what normally hostel rooms look like - nothing special. There are 3 types of mess you can choose from Veg, Non-Veg and Special Meal. Special Meal is the most expensive one here - you get both veg and non-veg. So if you can afford it and also eat non-veg, I would recommend Special mess - you get fruit juice and a variety of food here is more.
