Remarks
The admission takes place very early, the counselling was done even before the jee advance. This can be improved as the college thinks of its own benefits only but leaves the students in confusion and uncertainty. Any reservation benefits were not available and that is a very good thing. No one gets a reservation based on any criteria.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose mechanical engineering cause I didn't have much of an option. Although the faculty-student ratio is about 1:50 the number of students is very high, there is too much crowd on the campus and that kills the college vibes. The faculty and teachers are nice there are not many complaints about their knowledge or qualifications. The exams are taken very frequently with two internals and one final exam you hardly get 20-25 days gaps between the exams and in that too you have to deal with lots of assignments. Passing the exams is not much of a problem but still, it's very hectic.
Internships Opportunities
The college does provide good internship opportunities with a lot of companies taking students from the beginning of the 3rd year. From super dream companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and Adobe to dream companies like JP Morgan, Nokia, Pidilite and many more visitors. There are enough chances available for all the students from all branches.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee of this college has a unique system. The students are given admission in different categories. During the time of counselling, the total number of seats in each branch is divided into different categories with each category the fees increase by 1 lakh. So if you get your to branch in 1st category you pay 2 lakh as course fee, 3 lakh for 2nd category, 4 lakh for 3rd and soo in till 5th category. That is the fee structure apart from that the hostel fee is the same for everyone. Although it can differ a bit for foreign category students. There are not many scholarship options but respective board toppers do get some scholarships. Also, there is a minimal reservation for the students of north-eastern states.
Campus Life
The annual fests that take place are "Gravitas" which is the technical fest and "Rivera" which is the cultural fest. Apart from this, a VIT premier league is also conducted for sports events. But none of them is worth it because the campus is too crowded. All you experience in these events is a crowd and nothing else. Books are available in library but you have to get them early before the exams or such things cause if you are late then all the books are already issued. The classrooms are good enough as the campus is big so there are many rooms available. We do have a lot of clubs and social groups but again all of them are crowded you don't get to enjoy things. Overall, the campus life is pathetic and no one is happy with it. The gyms are crowded, the grounds are always occupied, the college fests and functions are always over crowded you don't get to enjoy anything properly. There are many unnecessary rules and strict guidelines which make things worse.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are good but still, the problem is the crowd. the 2-bed rooms are converted into 3 beds, 3 into 4 and soo on. Even 8-bed rooms are available. You are provided with a bed, a table, a chair, and a cupboard in a room. But most of the time, because the rooms are small and too many beds, are there you don't have enough space for chairs and tables so you don't get one. Both AC and Non AC rooms are available and their prices vary with their type and number of beds. There are special 5-star blocks available which are more expensive. Staying in PGs is not allowed in VIT it is compulsory to live in the hostel until you are not staying with your guardians. The mess is like other messes the food looks good but tastes bad. For getting your hostel room hostel counselling is held every year where you get a college rank according to your academic performance and on the basis of that rank, you get the priority to choose your room and roommates.
