joining a engineering college in durgapur apart from NIT is a waste of time.

I got admission here via WBJEE (WB State entrance) rank after the counselling session. AIEEE (now JEE) rank is also considered here.

The college is under M.A.K.A.U.T (Formally known as W.B.U.T). the board is not very good. only roge learning and giving semester exams.first two years are a total waste as only non branch subjects are taught in the first year & only 4 out of 11 in second year are branch subjects.Industrial/ project training has to be managed by the student only.

No, absolutely no internships are provided. After the 3rd year of B.tech, a compulsory industrial/ project training for 4 to 6 weeks is required as per the board's curriculam, that is also not provided by the college, students have to manage on their own a few good faculties might help in arranging a training though, but they do it personally not by the college.

For b.tech only 2 MNCs come for on-campus, a few start-up companies also come, but they do not take many people. Many pool campus recuitments are conducted, but they are conducted in Kolkata, and students have to make their own expense to go there and above that the students are informed for pool campus just two days before.

NSS (national social service) 4. fest (FRISSION) 5. republic day 6. independence day. 7. robotics 4th event is not good as students have to pay and the fest is not that good 7th event is very expensive. All the other events are good, mainly 1st & 2nd year's participate and a few 3rd year's participate.

The fees structure is about 3.25 lakhs for 4 years(only college). The hostel fees are sperate most of the boys (85%) move out from the hostel after the 1st year. Many live in near by PGs (paying guest). The hostel fees is 50,000 per year(fooding and lodging). 30% of the girls also move out from the hostel.

Loans are available from banks easily a student can start repaying after 6 months or 1 year of course completion.

Gender ratio: 45:55 or 40:60 (approx) (female : male) student diversity: mostly students are from west Bengal, Jharkhand or Bihar. students from other states are rare. Freshers paty and farewell parties are not given by the college, they are arranged by 2nd and 3rd year students.

If one lives in college hostel then it costs about 4,000 per month. if one lives in PGs then the room rent is about 1,700- 2,000 per month & fooding, wifi, depends on the students. The lodging quality in the hostel in ok-ok. The fooding depends, one day it is really good and the other day it's awful.

Not much interaction with juniors or seniors. only a few interact with seniors or juniors via clubs(NSS, Robotics, Ecell, Karate club etc.)

The course has 8 semesters- 2 in each year. The year starts in mid july ends in mid December 2nd half starts in mid January and ends in june first week mid july to September & February to march last week are very hectic months for the 1st,2nd & 3rd years the only tension for final year's are projects & placements.

Some faculties are really good and friendly and they also have good knowledge about the subject they teach. but many don't know the very basics of the subject. Many good faculties where here before but they left the colleges as they good job in better colleges.
