Remarks

College management is very strict which is sometimes good but it is actually opposed by students here regularly. The management is trying to make things easy on the campus.

Entrance Preview

I wrote VITEEE for getting into VIT Vellore. My rank was 3926 in the exam. It was my curiosity that drove me towards mechanical engineering, apart from that I came to know its the best branch in the college as far as teaching and opportunities are concerned

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I think the course structure is very dynamic in nature and thus provides a lot of opportunities for a student to do research works on different fields. There are ample opportunities in the university and always new ideas are appreciated, so one can always contact faculties for the same.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, VIT also provides internships in the final semester of your degree. Companies like Danfoss Industries, Anand Motors, Mittal steels Titan, Honeywell came for an internship in our department. The stipend these companies are giving is around 12k per month and later these get converted to placement in most of the cases.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements here range from 3.5 lakh per annum to 29 lakh per annum (Directi). Placements for core branches are satisfactory but it's not at par with the number of students in core branches. Placements in VIT are good. For CSE/IT it's near about perfect.ECE has its good share of fortune most of the time.EEE struggle in packages but the companies are branded and in core, fields starting packages are less only. Mechanical and it's specialization streams have mixed fortunes of good core jobs to management based profiles.BioTech normally doesn't opt for placements and go for higher studies but good firms do come like Biocon, Dr. Reddy, AstraZeneca Overall Placements are more than average in VIT

College Events

4.5

We have Riviera --Riviera is VIT University's ISO certified Annual International Sports and Cultural Carnival. This festival is an endeavor to provide a platform for all individuals to show their talents. We also have GraVITas -- annual science and technology festival of Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible if you see the present scenario of private institutes. The Fee structure in VIT University depends on the branch one wishes to pursue, the academic year, the category, nationality, and kind of hostel room and food (for hostel fee). If someone wishes to pursue a B.Tech course in Category 1 (i.e. selecting a seat by virtue of better rank and readily available seat during counseling at least possible fee), it is approximately INR 2 lakhs per annum as academic fee plus INR 60000 per annum hostel fee (subject to vary a lot depending on AC/Non AC rooms and food).

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, you can receive educational loan for any college or University in India at very low rate of interests, no matter the college is private or government. Mostly, the rate of interest on your loan starts only after graduation, that is, until you graduate, you won't be charged for any rate of interest. As per my knowledge, the Union Bank of India provides educational loans at the lowest interest. You have to talk with the Bank Manager of UBI in your town/city. Some estate land, jewelry, or any of the assets of your property have to be mortgaged to the bank for security reasons and after repayment of the loan, you get the rights back. You'll also need a person of trust outside your family who will sign the loan papers as a witness. Some bank managers hesitate to provide any service due to the burden of work and paper-work they have to under-take for your loan. Thus, your duty here is to pressurize the manager, plead with him, visit him frequently until he agrees. If the bank manager is not movable at all, you've got all rights to complain about this to higher officials of the bank: Only if the bank does provide a loan.

Campus Life

4.5

There is a huge diversity in the college and students from different corners of the country are taking admission here We can see a healthy gender ratio in the college as well. The students of VIT are provided with ample opportunities to nurture their creativity and develop a wholesome personality. The students can opt for membership in any one or more of the following clubs depending on their interest and take part in all activities of the club.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

It's above average. The conversation which I have had about mess food with a couple of my friends who are from different colleges has brought me to the conclusion that mess food served in VIT is much better than other colleges. A special mess is pretty good. However, generally speaking, mess food in VIT is pretty good.

Alumni/Alumna

My experience with college seniors has been quite good. I was part of many clubs which gave me many chances to interact with them. Yes these things have helped me a lot because it gave me many opportunities to see the corporate world and how to proceed with my career

Exam Structure

The exam structure is divided into various tests. There are three quizzes each of five marks and one assignment of five marks. Apart from that, we have two CAT exams each of fifteen marks (The actual mark is fifty but these are converted to fifteen later). Then there is TEE(Term End Exam) which is of 100 marks and is converted to 50 later. Actually frequent exams are taken here but these can be easily managed.

Admission

Notifications are released in the month of November. Exams are conducted in the month of April. After the declaration of the result of the entrance test(VITEEE), candidates are called for counseling based on their ranks. You can go to any of the two campuses Vellore or Chennai for the counseling. Once a particular branch is selected, you will be given a provisional admission letter having all the details of your fee structure and further processes.

Faculty

3

Faculties are well qualified and are very supportive. They are always ready to help. Mostly the faculties are having P.hd degree from renowned colleges. The best part is that they are even ready to held during nights as well in labs. They are very interested in teaching a particular subject.
