Remarks

Any graduate can apply for the course. The admission is given based on your marks on the entrance test and graduation score combined. There are only 48 seats every year and the cut-off ranges from 75% to 60% marks. The application is to be submitted online on the university website, the dates for which vary every year but the applications usually open around July. The examination fee (GEN) is 600 if applying for only one subject, ?800 for two and 1000 for three. You have to give separate entrance examinations for each subject. A decent amount of seats are reserved on the basis of caste, although I am not aware of the exact number. Overall my admission experience was great. After a few days of the entrance examination, the list of cut-off marks is released, and if you make the cut, you are required to visit the Department of Geography with your documents for document verification. From then on the admission procedure is fairly simple and the staff guides you through it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I choose this course because I was really interested in Geography back in under graduation and wanted to pursue it further. The faculty ratio is in fact great as compared to other universities and institutions, it is 1:4. All of the teaching faculty is highly qualified. Most of them have researched in different areas and almost all of them have a PhD degree. The faculty has been teaching for years and hence has an ample amount of experience. The quality of lectures is mediocre to good and the professors incorporate techniques like classroom discussions and practical assignments to enhance knowledge as well as to make the classes more interesting.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure includes semester fees as well as examination fees individually. The semester fee is about 2400 rupees but it is the wave of in case of girl candidates applying for the scholarships and for SC ST students usually. I along with all other OBC students received a stipend of rupees 1000 once per year. There is a scholarship named Samaj Kalyan scholarship for students belonging to the sc/st category which covers almost all of that tuition. They are many other scholarships for students pursuing master's degrees in arts that apply to master's in geography as well as some scholarships for students pursuing Masters's in Science that apply to the subject. One such scholarship is the Indira Gandhi single girl child scholarship which is provided to girls who are the only child of their parents and are pursuing a master's degree in any field. They must be in the first year while applying for this scholarship and then they have to apply for the continuation of this scholarship in the 2 yr.

Campus Life

3.5

The life on campus is great. The faculty is great, the students are amazing, and everybody is very cooperative. The campus is huge. There are libraries, parks, temples, cricket grounds, swimming pools and a lot of other extracurricular and sports activities so one can participate in any or all of them. There are societies too like the NSS (National Service Scheme)where one can volunteer for different causes. The classroom has all the amenities a student might need for his or her lesson, especially in the geography department where I am currently enrolled in. There is a GIS lab, there are projectors, and the classrooms are needed and clean. The whole vibe of the campus is great, plus there are all the instruments present that we need to learn. There is no annual fest like that in other universities but there are fresher and farewell parties which are of great quality in themselves and students are said and entertainment well. Overall I love the campus and I would recommend it to everybody.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have to work on my communication skills and learn how to communicate fluently. And this course really helps me to communicate way better in English and teaches about content writing, which I am learning right now. I will say the course curriculum is good; it can be better if there is a small online lecture on Sunday, it would be great. There is no problem with the timing of the exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The entire course was divided into 9 subjects. The previous year that is the first year had 4 subjects which were more of a basic understanding which included micro, macro economics and the final year had 5 subjects. The entire Economics curriculum was carefully subjugated into parts so that students can access them easily and increase their knowledge base and information about the subject. the examination was also based upon the need and fact that requires in depth understanding of the topic. Apart from this, the examination was conducted in a timely manner and the level of paper was also moderate to difficult. The marking scheme was also as per the official scheme prescribed by the university making the entire process smooth and student friendly. I personally chose this course due to the fact that I had great amount of interest towards economy and it's functioning since class 12th. So it becomes more lucrative for me to complete my higher education in it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum aptly covers all aspects of the subject that a professional should know. It prepares a person for real world too as there is equal amount of importance given to learning of theory as well as understanding the practical implications of what have been learned. A scholastic year is divided into two semesters. One semester includes coverage of 2 syllabus units after which the CA (continuous assessment) takes place. After the CA the rest 3 syllabus units are covered and then the Semester End Examinations take place. After the SEE, there is a break of around one month followed by another semester. In all, one Semester covers 5 units and overall the curriculum covers 10 units in one scholastic year in every paper code. This system allows to efficiently understand and learn about the required material without putting too much pressure at once.
